Will the younger generation know who Mick Foley is? Didn't he retire about 15 years ago?
 
He still goes back on every now and again but just in speaking roles and stuff as far as I'm aware.

No Way Out 2000. Cactus Jack vs. HHH. Hell in a cell. One of the best matches from the Attitude era.

Wrestling is having something of a renaissance a the moment. There seems to be loads of start-up brands popping up. WWE have also just opened their first ever UK 'performance centre' just for British wrestlers. It's not my bag in the slightest anymore, but if people are enjoying it then power to 'em.

Absolutely belter of a match that!
 
His various personas- cactus jack, mankind etc- along with his ability on the microphone made him popular, but the biggest thing in his career, and probably the single most definitive event in the wwe, was his plunge of the top of the cage through the tables. The entire audience and tv crowd in total disbelief.
You can ridicule the scripted nature of wresting all you want, but the athletes dedication and ability to put their bodies (and lives in that I stance) are what captures the viewers.

The event at bramall lane is virtually the same night my wife is due. Sure she'll be supportive when I say I've booked my tickets

As much as I loved Big Daddy when I was a kid, his signature move (in fact pretty much his only move) was just falling on someone.

Having said that, it was always a cracking card when he was fighting Giant Haystacks.

I always preferred the Street Fight at the Royal Rumble the month before. But Foley and Hunter had some great matches around that time, they really carried the company while the likes of Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Undertaker were out injured.

Just can't watch it these days, it's gone in a direction I've no interest in thanks to the "PG" nature of the shows.

You can pinpoint when the WWF/E started to go shit and it's the moment Vince acquired WCW. The Invasion storyline was poor thanks to Vince not been able to sign the likes of Hogan, Nash, Hall, Goldberg & Sting right away thus they had to have ECW team up with WCW to make it slightly less crap.

Anyway, this is a Blades forum not a wrestling one. UTB!!!

His ability to get his body in the 'right position' to land on the table was incredible. When he was taken away but got back up and climbed back on top of the cage was where I think it nearly went horribly wring, he was a fraction away from landing on his neck. From 15 feet. That match was ott, Foley went above and beyond, it was very uncomfortable to watch, you almost thought that the only way it would end was him lying in a pool of his own blood. Which is what happened.

Can we please stop this “wrestling” nonsense before the forum curls up and expires through acute embarrassment. Alternatively, please find a special section for it, because it’s nothing at all to do with sport. We could squeeze it in between “England wank” and “Tory twerps”, if there’s room.

Fair play you don't like it.

I personally couldn't care less for wrestling anymore, the "staged entertainment non-sport wrestling extravaganza" we were discussing happened to be around 20 years ago when I was about ten, I happened to enjoy it then. Clearly others did too! Simply reminiscing.

Even though I don't remotely enjoy it anymore. I can't say I find it as annoying as you do and especially not to the extent where even the terminology somebody has used around it is going to bother me.

Some folk enjoy it and some like myself (these days) and you don't. Live and let live pal. Does it really matter?
 
I just don't get all this WWF stuff its fixed isn t it ?
Grown men watching Semi Naked Grown men wrestling each other, its all seems a bit queer to me.
