if Blackwell walks tonight. 2nd goal went in and he just sat down slumped in his chair.

Everyone in the ground knew it was all over when they went 1-0 up and we had absolutely nothing to offer. Very very sad to see us outplayed by Blackpool reserves, yes, Holloway made 7 changes from Saturday, left his two best midfielders on the bench, brought them on in the 2nd half and they destroyed us.

Yes noticed that 2 to be fair though he dint really stand up in first half we was just awful and I think it's the right thing to do for the sake of the club

His interview on the radio was of a desperate man who probably knows the end is nigh.

It's the right time for him to go. Can't see us beating Cardiff or Newcastle with our current form, it's going to get ugly :(

you lot are living in cloud cuckoo land. he's got at least 2 years on his contract, do you think he just gonna resign and walk away from over half a million pounds? get real, the only way he's going is if McCabe sacks him and that isn't looking likely as Blackwell is doing McCabe's cost cutting without complaint.

As Puppet used to say WTTWY

If any Directors went tonight I hope that they have the cojones to report back to McCabe that this is simply not good enough and that the display was a travesty of football.

Except that he did offer to resign after the play-off final...? I don't think Blackwell is motivated solely by money. Remember when he was at Luton he was helping the players pay their mortgages when the club couldn't afford their wages.

I'd be happy if I never had to see his stupid face or hear his stupid voice ever again.

Bearing in mind he offered to go after Wembley and where are we now ? A lot of us said at the time that he would be under pressure if we didn't get a decent start and it's only going to get worse with 2 home games coming up.

He knows this and must be wondering what he can do. OK it was heat of the moment after Wembley but he must be thinking the same again.

'Offered to resign'...yep knowing full well it would be rejected cus he was the non complaining cost cutter Mccabe needs. If he wanted to resign he'd just go and not come back not make an empty gesture of 'offering to resign'!!!

Listening to his interview he seemed to think the defeat was mostly down to Blackpool scoring first, and having all the luck. On that basis I don't think he blames himself at all, nor the players really.

i'll admit in thinking he was the right man for the job....i wish he'd admit he wasn't

I don't think hell go he thinks he's got it bad with the injuries and he ist haven't the luck he disalusioned, get your p45 and go sorry but we need to save our club

That's the more worrying thing. He's not taking responsibility, he blows his top at a question about spirit anyone would ask in the circumstances, he's acting like someone who doesn't know what to do or say. Doesn't seem like someone who has the strength of character to handle the pressure of a big club going through a bad spell.

Never knew why McCabe gave him the extension when there was no urgent need to - now we're in the situation it'd cost us a fortune to get rid of him if he doesn't go (and why would he walk, when he'd lose out on compensation that way?).

Know what you mean but I suspect that was the public face to protect the players and in the confines of the dressing room he will be going ballistic. Earlier on, before the game, he was interviewed on radio sheff and was talking about the young, inexperienced squad taking time to gel and that he would take all the criticism, asking people to lay off the players.

Biggest reason we are shipping goals - no Monty to protect the back 4.
Same thing happened last season when Monty was out for a while.
Sad thing for Killa is that when he goes he wont be taking Monty with him and will be exposed - he is no Jagielka even though he thinks he is.

We were shipping goals before Monty got injured, it's just got that bit worse.

Berks I'll say it again...McCabe extended his contract cus he wants a non complaining cost cutter. He needs a manager who he thinks can perform whilst he pulls the rug from under his feet by selling half the players. Blackwell fits the bill....unfortunately the performances have now dipped alarmingly and McCabe has a decision to make. However, he'll put it down to the injuries and there is no way he'll sack him.

I never did, but not saying that in a told you so way, I think your post sums up a lot of peoples feelings and hats off for it.

Be nice if McCabe could see it too.

Blackwell should have been a stop gap to steady the ship after Robson but no-one could really say he didn't deserve a chance after the way we finished the season. If he hadn't done as well as he did and say we'd just bumbled along and finished mid table, I'm sure we would have brought someone else in in the Summer.

The only good thing about all these injuries (as far as McCabe can see) is that it gives him the perfect excuse to keep blackie in a job

He's safe as houses. McCabe can wrap himself in his red and white flag and Blackwell takes the flak on his behalf. Whats the point of sacking him because the first requisite of the new guy will be to do the same?

more than a bit

Monty was playing when the only team in England not to win yet put three past us on our own ground!

Now I'm a huge fan of Monty but you can't attribute all our defensive failings to his absence!

People are overreacting. Things are only going to get better in the coming weeks. Just calm down.

Like earlier on Radio Sheffield before the match when he said "if we'd won on Saturday we could have gone third". If we'd have won at Wembley we'd be in the Premier League, but in the real world without the "ifs", we won neither of the games and it's the real world that matters Blackie.

i have mixed feelings regarding whats happening at bdtbl. the performances are not acceptable and certainly somthing needs to change. and it looks increasingly like it should be the manager. the players no longer look like they want to play for each other nver mind the manager. the squad is never going to gel when they all know that in the next few months half the squad will be on their bike because their loan spells expire. how can they?
however, i have a lot of respect for blackwell. he turned our season around when nobson left and almost got us in playoffs when league 1 football looked possible at one stage. he then takes us the the playoff final and we lose as per usual. he has turned the club round and signed some good players. and if he goes he will be leaving the club in a reasonable state (other than the injuries)
its is probably time for him to go, but lets try and stay dignified. he's done a great job for us with his hands tied.
lets stay behind the team for the 90 minutes the game is on. they ALL need our support at this time. were all in this together. if they are going to pull through, WE need to be the 12th man on saturday more than ever.
UP THE BLADES!!
