Simple flowchart, hopefully you can all follow :)

1. John Fleck is class.
2. If you are in any doubt, see #1.

Form is temporary, and can often be attributed to a change of environment, rather than anything from within.

Class is permanent :).

I thank you !!!!

Good analysis but it’s more than a ‘slight’ issue isn’t it? He’s not justifying a place in the team right now, in my view. That’s a substantial issue for a player who was quite excellent twelve months ago.

Any criticism of Fleck needs to be more balanced.
He hasn’t been playing poorly, he just puts in safe 7 out of 10 performances week in week out
But where have those 9 out of 10 performances gone? Maybe it’s the system?

He’s playing OK but it’s as though he’s thinking he has other good players around him who can create chances and score goals
So maybe he feels that he no longer has as much responsibility or urgency to make things happen or score goals.

It’s as though complacency has set in, put in decent performances, don’t make mistakes and jobs a good’un.
In a mid table Championship team consistent 7 out of 10 performances would be sufficient
But I suspect Wilder would be hoping for more for players chasing promotion.

...in exchange for improved performances?
Not often this happens but I agree with you here. His best performances this season have still been around the 7 mark probably averaging a 6 weekly.

He was rewarded for his good performances last year with a four year deal, not sure why anything else is needed.

A big fan before this season and would love to be a fan again. I ❤️ Proper footballers.

Sadly, I think his performances have dropped so markedly that he needs to be replaced. I’d be very happy if he were to regain former standards but right now I see a laboured, lethargic, ineffective John Fleck contributing little but giving the ball away and leaving an ocean of space behind him for very good opponents to run into. Swansea and Norwich are two very recent examples but for me that’s been typical of his season with one or two sparks of his former self but not nearly enough.

I’m the first to say support and get behind our players by the way. I say it regularly on here and practice that philosophy myself. I even cheered Monty on match days! Away from Saturday and Tuesday one has to be more reflective and sometimes brutally honest. I can’t ignore what I’m seeing and I do wear my varifocals at the Lane!

Ryan Woods not been making the bench for Stoke lately....

We are experiencing a very long ‘temporary’ mate. Your love of proper football is equal to mine and I ❤️ your contributions, save for the ‘Leon thing’. Blind spots are best avoided, though. He needs to get his act together sharpish before poor play becomes a routine rather than an aberration.

Supply and demand. He’s maybe not hit quite the same heights this season but he is still an integral part of our side and the way we play.

We have NO viable replacement for him and no time to sign on. If it keeps him here I am happy for him to get a pay rise we are stronger with him int he side than out and stand a better chance of making the play offs

We can really only do this if there is a viable replacement lined up...

Not just some p

Even if we could afford him (we can’t). He’s Different player though. We would need someone with the Same dynamism as fleck not another tidy player in the Norwood / coutts / lundstram mold

£4 million would be criminal. Who could we get in as a replacement for a similar amount or less?

Capital letters don’t count double I’m afraid.

Dowell. Coutts. There is plenty of time for recruitment. On Jim White Day some clubs, sensibly or not, will be signing players for whom they have enquired the first time that very day.

Wherever part his agent had to play in this it sounds like West Ham did want him.
Regardless of how long his contract is, or how professional his attitude would still be I fully understand his wage getting reviewed.

Woods is dynamic as well as being a ball player. As you say though, probably out of our budget but there is always the outside chance of Stoke wanting to cut their losses if he doesn’t fit in there.

Thinking about it though.....he won’t be able to play for another club this season anyway will he due to the idiotic 3 club in one season rule?

Sky Sources = Agent being a nob

Wilder " Flecky, what's all this s**t about?" = contract talks

Good play by the agent if he has managed to get Fleck a new deal on the back of a poor run of form by touting him to West Ham.

To be fair, I think he probably is. He will want to see if he really wants to go or stay.

Maybe, but Sunjihi, who often talks bollocks, referred specifically to contract talks which one takes to mean money matters. That’s not Tufty’s province.

Mucker.

In the nicest possible way, it is entirely possible that your benchmark in measuring the level and consistency of Mr Flecks performances are based on previously higher attained levels. In simplistic terms, 8s & 9s have been replaced with 6.5s and 7.5s.

While I accept the overall level and consistency has dropped off this season (and I could bore anyone rigid as to why this MIGHT be), let’s not be so quick to put him in Dean Hammond territory ;).

The lad has been as instrumental in the turn round in our fortunes under CW as anyone. I would genuinely hate to see him leave as I have no doubt this would be detrimental. Not terminal but it would definitely leave us weaker overall.

I think the lad is class, and it is just a matter of time until his best form will be recaptured.

The slight issue with Fleck this season is possibly application, hunger and attitude (or maybe he’s reached his level).
In the league 1 season he had more responsibility and more of the ball in advanced areas.
He could afford to take risks because if he gave away the ball we were rarely punished.
He could afford to take shots from distance because we constantly created chances.
He has always been a lower league player with potential, so he was more hungry to achieve something in his career.

This season he doesn’t have the same responsibility.
Norwood sometimes by passes him because he’s excellent at the long pass out to the wing backs.
Also if Fleck makes a mistake the standard is higher so we can be punished.
This means Fleck is more cautious, plays a nice safe/ tidy game focussing on keeping possession.

He still plays well enough most matches but he no longer comes anywhere near a man of the match performance where he drives a game and stands out. Maybe I’m being a bit harsh but don’t think he’s done quite enough to deserve a pay rise.
..........anyway thought he’d just signed a contract giving him a big pay rise?
The Fact that there are actually 2 people that agree with this statement worries me deeply or is it that you and their blind dogs are computer literate
a lower league player with potential ,Male cow manure of the highest order .

To be fair, I think he probably is. He will want to see if he really wants to go or stay.
Didn't CW say,re interest in Clarke, that he'll always let a player know if a bid comes in for them, and discuss the options?

the only player id let Fleck go for would be Romaine Sawyers.. not a chance we will get him , so keep Fleck at all costs..

I always pay attention to the post match interviews. Managers tend to make it very clear which opposition players they admire, and, reading between the lines, would love to sign if given the chance. Woods does seem to be one of these for Wilder.

For those doubting Fleck, ok fair enough if that's your honest opinion, but look at the bigger picture- he's a key player in a side which is currently 3rd in the league and pushing for automatic, all this on a lower table budget, how bad can he really be if this is the case? (I agree he can do more, btw)
