For the next three years of your career John, do you want your salary paid to you in an envelope or a mercedes sprinter?

Well there is the small matter of oodles of money too I accept.

If Johansen is available he probably goes to the top of the list in terms of left footed replacements. We'd be the best move for him as well.

Different position but just seen that Ivan Cavaleiro is available from Wolves as well. Now that would be a game changer. Forget Hogan and get him if possible.

I think Calvaleiro would be beyond us financially, unless we sell Fleck for a proper price i.e much more than the laughable 4-5 million offers that have been muted.

We only saw a glimpse of the great talents Big Jostein possessed.

I’m stunned. I’ve always thought you were one of a limited number on here who knows what he’s talking about, even when I disagree.

But this one? Are you really serious? Great talents? He was 6 foot 4 and not one inch of that housed any talent whatsoever. He was a useless lump.

Jostein Flo? Jostein Fucking Flo! Jostein Flo.

There are two days to go. If we want to hold our ground, we can.

There is no reason to accede to any of his demands if we don't want to.

Given that Fleck has been playing like he has lost a bit of interest lately, I wonder how he would he would be if we denied him a move ?

But on loan? If we're willing to pay in the region of 30k p/w for loanees maybe it would be possible. I know it wouldn't be gaining us an asset like we'd both prefer but it would give us a fantastic chance of promotion if we had a player like that.

Do think this has coincided with Norwood.

He takes the ball off the centre halves and pings it 50 yards to the wing backs, very rarely does it go through fleck.

The only time fleck seems to get the ball is if he wins it himself, or when he's playing triagles with Stevens/O'Connell and this tends to be out on the wing.

Needs to get involved more, but whilst Norwood is playing the QB role, he's limited to a ball winner role.

Yes, that might well be an issue. There’s certainly something not right.

Yes, probably doable on loan. We'd then need two Fleck replacements in the summer though (gulps).

Unfortunately Cavaleiro could be Leeds bound on loan. I know they are interested.

Guessing by your profile pic, I'm likely to be less of a fan of the big man than you. He could have been a much better signing than he was though and that I believe was because we played Flo down the middle and it wasn't his best role. But that would mean we had to buy another forward to play in the middle and I'm not sure the budget allowed for that, knowing Reg Brearley was in charge! When we bought Blake we looked a much better side.

Jan Aage though; has there been a more skillful forward that we've ever had?! If so I can't recall one! Left foot, right foot, heading, volleying, strength, long range scorer, the only thing he didn't have was pace, otherwise I believe he'd have played for one of the top 6 to be fair.
Brian Deane ?

Sound advice Bill.

I hope it’s of general application? Perhaps a little less “activate Plan B” “mixitup” and “gerritintbox” as a panacea from the usual knee-jerkers every time we happen to, Pele forbid, lose a football match, as even the very best do from time to time?

You’re obviously unaware of his exploits at France 98, where the tactical genius Egil Olsen brought Big Jostein on to turn the game vs Brazil. They couldn’t handle him. A wonderful moment in footballing history.

Ah, I see... I think I see.

His form may not be at the level we are accustomed to but he is still a vital cog in the machine. We wouldn't have time to replace him this window and to replace him with a like for like standard would cost some serious cash.

For these reasons I can see us agreeing a new contract with a clause for a bid in the summer when we will have more time to replace him.

Jostien Flo enjoyed success played out wide as a winger, after the legendary Norwegian coach Egil Olsen devised a routine where the full back on the opposite flank would play a long cross field ball aiming for the head of Flo who would knock the ball down and pick up an attack from there, it was very successful for Norway. It is a stunning simple but effective form of attack as it delivers the ball in to the POMO quickly and effectively. I also remember Blackie trying this tactic, often effectively when he played Greg Halford out wide,

Here is a short video which shows how it work, on this occasion creating a chance for the Norwegians against the Brazillians.

That may well be true IF the CheatinAmmers had actually made an offer.

Call me a suspicious old get, but it seems mighty coincidental that we have 'interest' from a higher level, when a player is in contract negotiations.
I bet Fleck's agent just couldn't believe it falling into his lap like that............
I don’t think we were in contract negotiations with Fleck before the offer was made. Are you suggesting his agent has so much influence over West Ham that he can get them to bid for players they don’t want?

I’ve just had an epiphany. I’ve been getting it wrong for decades. I’m humbled by Egil, Jostein and Pomo.

Gerritintboxjostein.

brownie, always waiting at the far post, often a very very far post... :)

You do realise this effort will be totally lost on the person it is aimed at.
You cannot educate Pork.

The only 'interest' I've seen was in the BBC footy gossip column linking to a Yarkshur Post article.

Have you actually seen anything official from the CheatinAmmers?

Sky Sources = Agent being a nob

Wilder " Flecky, what's all this s**t about?" = contract talks

I don’t read the Star or the YP. I thought I saw a link to an article confirming we’ve rejected a bid. If you’re saying it’s all bullshit, great, I don’t want him to go.

If we get a very good replacement then I think we’ll sell and that’s fair enough, irrespective of the fee really.

He may be off the pace but he is still better than any other midfielder we presently have who would come in for him.

Selling without a replacement would be a disaster. Perhaps we can agree to release him for £5m at the end of the season, assuming we don’t get anyone over the line before Thursday
