STFU.
You on’t man blob or summat?!
Never referenced class. I’d say Deane is a legde of the lane, but would also say nowhere near the class of footballer
Also: ..."I'm fitter and stronger than I've ever been before now".
And Butlin and Bourne.Ladies and gentlemen, you are witnessing the making of a legend.
In years to come you will be able to say you cheered on Billy Sharp in the same way our elders talk about Badger and Currie.
That is bang out of order. Why wouldn't young fans talk about Billy in the same way that people of my age talk about the early 70's Blades side? The lad is in rich form, and gives 100%, one of Chris Wilder's first things he did was to make Billy the team Captain, he leads by example.
no one said he wasI’m afraid Pinchy is right. Sharp isn’t in the same class as Currie was. There are maybe a dozen footballers I’ve seen in my lifetime who are of the Tony Currie ilk. Players like George Best, Pele, Alan Hudson, Rodney Marsh, Frank Worthington, Eusebio, Maradonna, Cruyff, Cantona, Henri, Zidane, Messi, Beckenbauer.
We are talking “world class” here. Sharp doesn’t come anywhere close I’m afraid.
Sure he can still be a legend though. And he will be. And I think he already is?
Not in the same class. Bladey claptrap.
My mother was in that filmI want it sorted out like Alan Bates & Oliver Reed did it in Women in Love. Or a duel with flintlock pistols in a park or by way of a bare knuckle straightener on the cobbles. Or even by way of a trident/netting/spear tear up. Anything else falls short of the mark in my book.![]()
I’m afraid Pinchy is right. Sharp isn’t in the same class as Currie was.
After playing 23 games this season he had the clause triggered in his contractSharp has triggered a clause in his contract extending it by another year.
Hard to compare Sharp and Currie, as they are totally different types of player. Just as Sharp is not in the same league as Lineker or Shearer, Currie was never in the same league as Pele or Eusebio. It has been great to watch both Currie and Sharp at the Lane.I’m afraid Pinchy is right. Sharp isn’t in the same class as Currie was. Mmm... Reminds me of someone. Can't quite think who...Now talks bollocks. .
Not in the same class. Bladey claptrap.
As some have pointed out I didn’t say they were in the same class, in MY opinion Sharp was fan, ball boy, player, captain and record breaker.
But, I’m interested in your thoughts, so what does he have to do to achieve legend status in your humble opinion?
He’s a record breaker and almost single handedly stopped us from going into league two, he deserves a lot more respect than you’re currently giving him.I don’t have humble opinions. I try to educate.
Excel in the top tier. Badger and Currie did.
It doesn’t really matter, anyway. We’re in the business of getting promotion as a team, not hero-worshipping an individual simply because of where he comes from or which team he supports. This is not yet well understood in S2. Not much is.
He’s a record breaker and almost single handedly stopped us from going into league two, he deserves a lot more respect than you’re currently giving him.
Oh, a lot of people deserve a lot more respect than they get on here. Kevin McCabe is the glaring example.
I give Sharp plenty of respect and yes he deserves it. I don’t add a premium for silly reasons like the biological accident of place of birth though.
Some numbskulls are claiming he should have a job for life as a player and then coach. Here’s me thinking we’re a professional club not a retirement home. We’ve heard it all before about the worst coach of all time, Muckanettles Upanatem Nowt-Fancy.
It’s an excruciating level of Bladey-Bladeness.
Sharp would never get a mention if he had no United connections.
Just like that complete nonentity Chris Wilder.
As long as he has his coaching badges I see no problem of him staying on in a coaching capacity when he hangs his boots up. See what he’s like, for all we know he could be pretty handy at it? See how it goes.Oh, a lot of people deserve a lot more respect than they get on here. Kevin McCabe is the glaring example.

I’d keep your head down, kid. You’re outside your curfew. They’re looking for you.
Rodney Marsh world class.I’m afraid Pinchy is right. Sharp isn’t in the same class as Currie was. There are maybe a dozen footballers I’ve seen in my lifetime who are of the Tony Currie ilk. Chris Morgan.
Splendid attitude and such grace.
United we stand.
Rodney Marsh world class.
Doing what ?
Our shame is we didn’t recognise his talents sooner.
