Some interesting bits from Sharp's interview in yesterday's match programme.

Question: You must have noticed your name being mentioned heavily as GM was linked and subsequently signed for United?

Sharp: "It was all fun and games back then, it was not a major issue for me. Gary apologised through a mutual friend and it was sorted, man to man. He plays for Sheffield United now, he'll wear the red and white shirt and he's here to help us win promotion".

Also..."I'd love to sign a new contract at the club in the near future.I've still got a lot to offer and I want to be celebrating many more goals in front of the fans at Bramall Lane".

Also: ..."I'm fitter and stronger than I've ever been before now".

So, that would be "man to man to man" then?

Seems slightly contradictory, unless he means it was sorted through a mutual friend and then man to man. Bottom line is it was sorted though...

I want it sorted out like Alan Bates & Oliver Reed did it in Women in Love. Or a duel with flintlock pistols in a park or by way of a bare knuckle straightener on the cobbles. Or even by way of a trident/netting/spear tear up. Anything else falls short of the mark in my book. :)

You ever seen that film The Duellists? That's how to conduct a feud.

Yeah sound, babes.

One can stay here for the remainder of their career. The other should be a short-term stop gap at best, we're aiming for better than that, on and off the pitch. Think Hanson, do a job, get up, get rid.

I think the plan is exactly that. Get up get rid. I’ll take that every day.

Not in the same class. Bladey claptrap.

That is bang out of order. Why wouldn't young fans talk about Billy in the same way that people of my age talk about the early 70's Blades side? The lad is in rich form, and gives 100%, one of Chris Wilder's first things he did was to make Billy the team Captain, he leads by example.

My dad’s favourite was Jimmy Hagen. Mine were Jones and Birchenall but later on Woody and Currie. Who can forget Deane and Agana? Every decade throws up heroes and quite rightly Billy will be up there with the best. Our shame is we didn’t recognise his talents sooner.

That last paragraph definitely rings true and it was apparent yesterday.

Right up to when he was subbed off sharp was putting in a reyt shift. He might not have got a goal but I thought his harrowing of their back line was great.
One surprise yesterday was that he didn't strike the through ball from Norwood at goal, given his recent run of goals. He layed it off to McGoaldrought instead, who missed as per bloody usual, couldn't hit a barn door that fella

How many top flight games has he played? Bladey Claptrap abounds.
