What is your favourite Madine thread?

He was sitting 2 rows in front of me for the Barnet game. Blades all around him and he didn’t hit anybody.

Mind you he did have this Ross Kemp type minder with him. At the time I thought it was for his protection, but having read this thread I’ve realised that it must have been to stop him from hitting us!

Irrespective of his record and his reputation, he actually seemed and sounded a lot more articulate and intelligent than your average footballer.

There'll be a lot of 'Championship James Hanson' comments but he's better than that. He is a good player, despite everything, and you'll struggle to find a better target man at this level.

He can be very useful for us, there's no doubt about it.

There will also be a lot of talk about him being an impact sub.... nah, sorry. Maybe to start with, but Wilder has a more prominent role in mind for him than that.
But I have doubts about his suitability in our team. Because he'd have to be playing with Sharp, and are those two really a pairing? When has Billy excelled with a target man? He's better with a link player like McGoldrick.

I hope he's not our only forward signing, we need someone up there with pace and trickery. At least a winger.

Interesting to hear him single Fleck out. He's got good taste, at least.
You’re learning sunshine.

Obi Wan has taught you well :)

Edit...

We've got Madine, Gary Madine
I just don’t think you understand
He’ll score a brace
Then smash your face
We’ve got Gary Madine

Urgh.

Our staff and squad just went from 'plucky, honest triers who play exciting football' to 'they've got that fucking Madine, he's a cunt'.
Here's to hoping we don't need him, and rarely see him in our shirt.

You know Madine personally do you? He hit someone some years ago and went to jail for it. How many misdemeanours since? I’d argue he’s been taught a very tough lesson.

Of course you’re entitled to express your disgust. Whether it’s a bit OTT is up to the reader.

I think it is.

He actually hit quite a few people, one for supporting our club. That could have been you, it was random after all.

I know a few who know him personally and not one has anything good to say about him. One referred to him as the worst human being they have ever encountered.

A great role model for our younger fans! Well done Blades, proving that you really are a club for dregs!

Weirdo!

Are you purposely trying to piss us off to divide us further?

Fuck You United - not worthy of our support! You’ve just stupidly made a rod for your own back.

Wilder, you are a total hypocrite. All this talk of vetting players to make sure that they have a sound character. You’ve ripped up your own principles showing that it was all talk in the first place!

Fucking booooooooooo from the first whistle to the last!

Very sad Sparky. Once Madine puts on a Blades shirt he needs us to support him, like every other player. Those that boo him are deliberately making it harder for a United player to succeed - one that has cost us money and is the Managers choice, whether you like it or not.

Oh shut up you fanny! He was an absolute twat off the pitch but how do you know what is character is like on the pitch or in the dressing room? I’m quite sure Wilder realises the shut storm it may cause but he doesn’t get paid to make sparky the blade happy he gets paid to get the club as high up as the table as possible and if he thinks Madine will do that so be it.

To be fair mate, whilst the original post you were replying to went a bit OTT, I do see where he's coming from, Sparky The Blade is only defending what he believes are the values of his club, what United stand for. He's not even assuming what these values are, he's simply going on what Wilder has said in the past. And it's not hard to out 2 and 2 together and see how Madine is a full weight who completely contradicts those values. Sparky's response, whilst you might not agree with it, shows just how much this matters to some people. United have signed a player who broke one of their own fan's jaws. And who has been strongly anti-United in the past, many are bound to want to tell Madine to fuck off or to see him as not completely committed to the cause, not hard to see why is it? To see why he might just be in it for the money. They're also really apprehensive about a bloke recognised as a full on dickwad upsetting the good thing we've got going here. We're bang in form, able to be punching above our weight, high in this division because everyone is United. Nowt should interrupt that. I'm the same in that sense.

And to go back to your eloquently put original points (;)) I actually have the unusual perspective of being able to comment on how he is on the pitch, on the training ground. A close mate of mine coached him at a few of his previous clubs. Believe me or not, no skin off my nose, but he says he's the hardest work of all the players he's every coached, a bad egg who didn't change over several years, often on the piss/hungover and the clubs regularly had to bail him out (not always literally!) but avoid stuff coming to the media's attention. His words: the biggest diva I've worked with.

Sounds great, eh?

He creates and scores what we want isn’t it?

No, he doesn't, he scores very few and creates even less.

Record for Cardiff - 0 Goals, 1 missed penalty, 4 missed open goals, very few shots on target, wins fewer than half his aerial battles, an assist every 7 and a half games.

1. He's a total dreg of society. Not the kind of guy you want your kids to look up to.
2. He's a poor footballer.

Not at all what we are looking for.

I don’t mean in terms of costing us games, I mean upsetting the apple cart. Wilder has worked hard to assemble a hard working team without egos, I’m hoping Madine has grown up and fits this profile. If not then it might cause problems.
think Chris will not suffer fools gladly
hes ruthless , if Madine steps out of line expect a taxi waiting at the training ground for him

Definitely. Apparently someone had a go at Wilder and told him that what with the Barnet result and the Madine signing things couldn't possibly get any worse Chris was at the end of his tether with all the criticism and said " Is that so pal? Just watch this space".

Be interested to see who the 3rd signing is now.

Disappointed that Madine hasn’t apologised for his behaviour towards the club in the past. If anyone sees him on West Street just politely ask him to get in a taxi and go home before he gets arrested.

He was never going to say that on an internal interview with the club - I'm sure he'd rather not talk about it as he did time for that and rightly so. But hopefully they'll also be a Radio Sheffield interview too, which tend to be more interesting although I wouldn't expect an apology but I'm sure he has regrets over his actions - it cost him time and he had to start his career again. Whether he's sorry for the actions on a morale level we don't know, but I would obviously hope so. Personally as long as he gives his all and wants to play for us then I'm fine with him playing for us.

Heres a thought

signed QUINN ex owl

scores in win over wednesday in debut derby

Signed Leon Clarke ex owl

scores 2 in win over wednesday in debut derby

sign Gary Madine ex owl

due a derby debut in march, keep up the trend

I'm sure they're sh*ttin' bricks already..
Nailed on Hat Trick at Swillsboro LOL.

It was evident against Barnet that we lacked any Ariel threat so mebbe Calgon is being brought in to address this issue. We will have to Persilvere and Surf the wave to see if he can Dazzle the opposition. At the end of the day it's a Bold move by the club and let's hope he can improve his strike rate to 3 in 1 and leave us all in Comfort

Remember how much we improved straight away? As a team already challenging for automatic we suddenly looked much more threatening, the opposition seriously struggled to deal with a team that had a direct threat and could hit it long, whilst also passing through them and pinning them back onto the canvas with exquisite football.

Clarke and Mcgoldrick win next to nothing in the air, plus on n set pieces having JO’C, Egan and Madine in the same box will make us lethal imo.

Not to mention, Hanson had never scored goals anywhere, if Madine can recreate that unreal goal scoring run he had for the pigs he could be the center forward that fires us to top of the league come may.

Think Gary Madine is an excellent signing

Thanks, mate.

Angry because I care.

Ah balls, the top of the post was supposed to mention about when we signed James Hanson

Hanson scored 1 goal when we went up, was still a vital part of the jigsaw at the end. Madine scored 10 for Bolton who are probably the least creative team in the league....take away all the baggage he's not a bad signing at all.

All part of wilders battle of egos and desire to be fans favourite with Billy evidenced by not wanting to start him at beginning of season so Billy kicking off on twitter. No love lost at all. For QPR will start madine and mcgoldrick to rub it in. Madine may finally get a head on our dozens of corners every match and become a hero. Never dull at BDTBL.

Have you seen into the future?
