Its going to be a really hard game this one , they have just beaten Leeds in the FA cup , Hats off to McClaren for doing a good job , I will be a really happy man if we beat QPR , it will a real marker as to where we are this one .
Prediction 1-1 .

QPR were at full strength today which in theory should help us.

Same team that started the last but with Bash instead of Cranie

At full strength, with time to rest, and now have confidence going into the next game. Whereas...

...the 11 we’ll be putting out will still have confidence from the last game they started, and be at full strength with even more rest than their opponents? Is that what you meant?

I just don’t buy this argument that because it’s not our regular 11 that played today that it doesn’t affect the feel of the squad/first team. Wilder’s pissed off and players are obviously going to be down over the next few days.

To be fair, those footballers at QPR will only have a week to recover from their Cup win against Leeds today.

We managed to deal with the crushing blow of having our reserves dumped out of the League Cup earlier this season, beating Norwich. Likewise the last two seasons we’ve been knocked out we’ve responded with a win. I don’t see this affecting too much really. I mean we might not get a result vs QPR, but I personally don’t think it’ll be because of this result today and any aftermath.

Completely agree.

Today confirmed the suspicion that we have next to nothing behind the first XI, and justifies why we have been selecting an almost unchanged line-up, even after defeats, and it's fair to assume that the team for Saturday will be the one we all know with Basham back in for Cranie.

Make no mistake, though, that today's debacle will have a hangover into the weekend and there is likely to be an edginess for the players and for the crowd, especially if QPR start on the front foot on the back of the drivel we saw today.

Let's be right, the team has picked itself for the last month.

In regards to the players today, most of them wouldn't look so bad if picked in isolation, not as a completely new 11. We probably have a core 15 players that could play and slot in when required at the moment such as Coutts, Freeman and Stearman. Stearman wouldn't look so bad alongside JOC or Bash. Cranie was also fine at Wigan. I think Johnson would have looked better with an overlapping JOC but had no help today.

Main areas of concern are up front, and although could be argued Madine will probably put a better shift in than Clarke or Washington.

Given the QPR first team played today, we can probably rest a few players. What a miscalculation to play best players in the Cup! The fools!*

*Happy for the flack when we promoted to PL and QPR mid table.

Good players playing with average to poor players around them will look average, average players with poor players around them will look poor. Equally, one excellent player raises the levels of those around him as seen when Norwood came in against Hull in the Carabao cup and we instantly looked a different side to the one that looked like it didn't know it's arse from it's elbow at Boro and scraped 3 points at QPR.

The only thing we learnt today is that should our first 11 all get the shits at once, we're fucked. The odd player from today making appearances with our quality players will not affect us greatly, see: Cranie at Wigan, Leon and Washington at Brentford, Lundstram looked alright against Brentford too, and his cameo at Villa.

We'll be reyt. We were shit today though, but thankfully we're unlikely to ever need to field that side again.

The team that started at Wigan except Basham in for Cranie. We’ll see how much Wilder sticks to his word cos I suspect half of todays team will be on the bench v QPR.

Moore
Bryan
Stearman
Cranie
Freeman
Johnson
Lundstram
Dowell
Coutts
Clarke
Washington

Let's give them a chance to redeem themselves.

If Wilder did that he'd need to walk to dugout from the Westfield Corner vehicle entrance because his humongous bollocks would require a low loader.

Team v QPR shouldn't include any cunt that disgraced our shirt and club bar Dowell, Coutts and the subs.
The rest can fuck off and never come back.

Does Madine start?

Madine will only start if

1: Sharp and McGoldrick are injured, lose form or need a rest
2: Wilder might choose Madine as a tactical option if he suspects the opposition will park the bus defending deep in numbers.
3: Madine really impresses during his sub appearances.

None of the above are applicable so he won’t start.

Think the bigger question is “will Madine be a sub against QPR and will Wilder bring him on”
Suppose it depends on his fitness and how he does in training this week.

Half of today's team will have to be on the bench or we'd have no subs.

Not a single place up for debate. It picks itself as much as it has for a long time.

The main question is who deserves to make the bench from that bunch of chimps today? I’ll go Coutts, Dowell, Moore and then chuck in 4 from the academy because the rest don’t deserve even a sniff of the first team.

Wouldn't even put Moore on it unless there's a requirement to have a GK on the bench. If there is put Eastwood on.

Moore spilled one shot but still deflected it wide, apart from that he didn't do too much wrong. We all know he's a decent keeper. He doesn't deserve to lose his no.2 position due to his performance v Barnet.
