Not very good.

He gets the shadow of doubt with it being his first game since last season, but big improvement needed. Not helped either by having Jordan Stewart in front of him

Jeez - he needs more time.

Coutts was excellent v Blackburn & Wigan but very average today.

If Bryan had to come in for an odd game and played with better players he would be ok - just like Crainie was v Wigan.

A team can carry 1 player for what ever reason, 2 at a push, 3 or more and you are asking the impossible.

He really wasn't helped by what was around him ,very difficult debut for him.
It sounds like he was one of 11 players who weren’t helped by what was around him?

Who got MOTM btw? I’d be interested to know if anyone was nominated never mind chosen!

The hate this kid has been getting post game is pretty dire

He was really poor but grown men acting like he’s murdered their dog over the only minutes he’s played all season is ridiculous

Dont see any hate TBH. Maybe you are creating that bit.

Difficult to judge him on that, but I don't think he warrants the same levels of criticism that most of our experienced 'pros' do who played today. He isn't immune for criticism either but am sure he will be given time to put things right, as will the other players. Heads will be banged together tomorrow Morning and then everyone will be back at it.

I agree that it is hard to judge Bryan on just today. He needs a decent pre-season and a run of games to really get going.

I saw nothing to suggest he shouldn't have a relatively decent career at somewhere like Oldham. Given that he already has the stupid hair and chavvy tats that will only aid his future career as a professional footballer

It's honestly a fucking joke. It's a good job MOST players know better than to read this fucking drivel constantly from our fans. We've been spoiled in the past few years that people havent had much to complain about and you forget how much united fans really hate that.

Kean Bryan hasn't played a single game this season and has been injured, ill and injured again.

His game wasn't bad at all and the players around him didn't help in the sense of Stearman struggled and Johnson looks like he has something but he's not sure what to make of the formation either.

Remember Swindon Away in the play-offs? Most of you will remember watching it on tv and Paul Coutts was the worst footballer i've seen in a Sheff Utd shirt for 15 years and believe me I'm not overestimating that. He was awful when he first got back from injury and wasn't until an extended run of games and consistency in the team eventually got him physically to where his ability level could finally shine.

He was really poor aside from it being his first game which is an excuse of sorts I suppose. I expected him to be able to do the basics though like control, simple pass or even jump or a header at some point close to when the ball is in the air. He got a bit better first half but not sure he did anything right first half save that one run where he got fouled. He looked poor on the ball but positionally he did not seem to know where to go. Wilder and Knill were furious with him on more than one occassion as he did not keep any kind of shape.

I don't get all this other pros should have helped him too. Just do the basics. Also as Wilder says backups should know the formation and how we play from watching us. He seemed so nervous and was jumping in ridiculously. Johnson had to cover for him quite a bit - he was gash too of course.

I expected a lot better. It is one game though but he wont be involved in the 1st team this season unless we have lots of injuries/suspensions and needs some games out of loan possibly.

I think the biggest thing for me is watching a footballer for the first time you look at their composure and technical ability. Dowell showed bits of this but this lad looked ragged and hacked/swung at things. Hopefully it was nerves.

All about opinions but I didn’t see excellence from Coutts in either of those games.

I think it was the best he’s played since his comeback v Blackburn, but still a long way short of his previous “average” never mind “best”.

And v Wigan he simply came on to play in little triangles after we’d got the game won. He did that very well, rolling the ball under his foot, a little 3 yard pass here, then a receive there, and repeat, in order to keep possession and slow the game down.

But he looks crippled to me. (Seriously). In both those games when the ball has gone past him he cannot run or tackle to get it back. He was never the best tackler but I’ve never seen him look so flat-footed and easily done for pace as he appears now.

I know we all want him to do well and be back to his best, but he is absolutely nowhere near it and hasn’t showed any hint of that so far to me.

Dowell, who played well.

Would be stupid to write off Bryan after one performance, but when Wilder talked about players looking clueless in the position they were playing, he was definitely included.

Him and Johnson where really poor no excuses, professional footballers train most days. Should show a lot more than they did today. Not expecting them to be brilliant top of there game but ffs they looked like Sunday league players.

Yeah I agree with that, not saying we need to slaughter the kid but he was woeful, poor touch, poor passing, couple of bad tackles.

Can’t judge him completely on one performance obviously but I don’t think he’s done himself any favours.

And as for Johnson, I’ve been a defender of him as he’s only had the odd 5 mins but after that I ca know see why

You must be his brother or his best mate.

Looks like old Paul was channelling some of that shit performance you’ve just made me remember today... few in line for a kick up the jacksie before Kean

Nobody is giving him “hate”. Everyone seems to group criticism into the “hate” category. He was awful at his job today and it’s not a promising sign. I don’t care if he’s had a few months out, of you can’t pass, defend or compete physically you shouldn’t be playing. To me it seemed like everyone else, he could not be arsed. Nobody took responsibility today. I’ll even group Dowell in with that, doesn’t mean I’m writing them off, but they didn’t help matters today.
