Cant believe more people havent mentioned this. What a stupid tackle that was. I guarentee almost every defender on here wouldn't have made that tackle. The striker is going wide of goal and would have taken a fantastic finish to beat Moore.

Should have stood up, shown his man towards the byline and blocked the shot.

This is supposed to be our experiended CB who is cover for the first team. Hes no where near match sharp or near the first team now. We need another CB asap to cover.

This one mistake lead to the only goal. Dont make that tackle, dont give away a pen, different game.

Wilder should have them all in tomorrow morning for training as punishment for a lack of professionalism in not winning that game.

Even worse now the Norwich game will go ahead in 3 weeks. Could have done with that being moved so we had a run of (on paper) easier matches.

I thought the same. He’d made a similar challenge 5 mins earlier which was actually a great challenge but that one was very poor.

I was more angry at him and Cranie for letting their number 10 waltz between them at will
 
It was a very poor tackle and he had a poor game. He did look rusty and it's not surprising given his lack of games this season. But he's a good pro and a solid Championship player. Anyone we get in to replace him would face the same issue of not being able to displace Egan to get in the team. For me this is one area of the pitch we don't need to worry about too much in this transfer window.
 
He was shit at home to Wigan too. Windass absolutely shredded him on the outside for their second goal.

We’re paying far too much for an obvious backup defender.
 
Him and Cranie were absolutely embarrassed in that first 25 minutes or so, with punts down that side catching them out every single time. They were then nice enough to give Mane, sorry, Coulthirst, more space than he could possibly have asked for.

Agreed, Jake Wright could do the same for less money. Id rather have a quick young lad than a slow experienced one, as the quick one makes up the ground and wins the pass inside every time.

It’s like he’s got some long term niggle that he’s trying to play through until the end of the season before having a minor operation. There’s just something not right with him.
 
I'm getting quite sick of Freeman. It's always the same. Has a few good games, gets one of his trademark knocks, disappears for a bit. Comes back, does nothing.... then improves a bit. And repeat. I have doubts over his attitude and fitness too. He's nothing more than a squad player, ultimately. Should we be aiming for better than that? I think it's a no brainer because Baldock isn't particularly reliable either.

No Stearman didn't have a mare, but when you play 3 across the back, with our RCB & LCB pulling out to the byline, it leaves a massive gap between the one in the middle (ie Egan)

Stearman doesn't have the pace to play properly in a 3 how CW wants to play it - this is why CW replaced Stearman very quickly after only 1 season and we coughed up a package of £4m for him - and even then Jake Wright played a significant part of the 1st half when we got top of the league.

Bonkers playing Stearman now unless Egan gets injured or suspended. - plain bonkers - which is why CW hasn't played Stearman or will.

I think he had to make the tackle too. He let the attacker get goal-side of him but then again he was left completely exposed by his colleagues.

I think his best days are behind him but you could see him struggle to Marshall Cranie and Bryan. It's a lot to expect from someone who has hardly played this season.
 
He’s not a bad player at all and to have him on our bench makes us stronger. He had a bad game today which was made even worse by the idiots either side. That Kean Bryan was a joke. Passing backwards, poor touch and a shocking tackle on their winger in second half

The only get out he has for not passing forwards is that he would have been passing to Johnson.
 
You could see the pass coming a mile off but stearman let the player get in front of him then he was fecked
 
One thing to take from today is to never, EVER play Stearman and Cranie together again.

Freeman was cramping quite badly from the 60 minute mark, and keeled over near the end. He's definitely not fit enough; it's been showing in his performances for a long time now.
 
Today's performance highlighted the fact that if you play 3-5-2 , the back 3 and the wingbacks need to be top quality (which Bash , Egan and JOC are ) and on top of their game .

None of today's incumbents in those positions came close to meeting those criteria , which is why we got dragged all over the place and made to look like we had more holes than a colander . As for Stearman himself , I've been told on more than one occasion by Pinchy that he is a very good centre half and way better than Jake Wright .

I begged to differ at the time and after today's performance , I rest my case .
 
I remember when Stearman came back from injury during our shit run this time last year and his initial performances were poor. I think he needs a few games before he gets into his, admittedly average, stride.
 



I have never been a fan of Stearman, to me he just doesn't have the skill set to play his position properly. For a big lad he is not very strong & often get outmuscled by smaller forwards. It isn't his fault he isn't blessed with pace but he also doesn't have the nouce to position himself correctly to compensate for it & got caught out once again by letting the forward get goalside which lead to the challenge for the penalty. He should have been 3 yards further back & slightly to the right so he could shepherd the forward away from goal.
This is just one example of where we have progressed so quickly that players who were once good enough have been left behind & are not really good enough even for backup.
