Got to give him credit - he must have balls the size of watermelons if he's up for the move knowing the likely reaction.

As long as he doesn't do anything stupid (e.g. get sent off in his first game) I predict he'll become a favourite.

Would he celebrate if he scores at Hillsborough? Be absolute top brass shithousing if he runs the full length and celebrates in front of there kop full adebayor style. With Deano giving it the big fuck off as well. Scenes and limbs lol

He's a big horrible bastard, he's a nightmare to play agaisnt and he's a beast of a target man, I just don't think the risk is worth the reward.
There MUST be better players out there, ones that wouldn't upset the fan base as much too.

I still think Waghorn would have done better for Utd than he has for DCFC (not difficult I know) and turned out to be a positive signing.

You also forgot CW spent £2m on Norwood who hasn't turned out to be bad either (and being honest far better than I expected).

I think Waghorn would have done better for us. But my concern is that Wilder only seems willing to spend on 'proven' - often meaning in their late 20s with minimal development or resale value in them. And the 3 I've named are all a certain type - tough, hardworking, no nonsense, unspectacular.

He seemed unwilling to spend similar fees on Luke Freeman and Jack Marriott. Maybe they're just not 'hard' enough...

He didn't even seem bothered about replacing Brooks suitably (permanently).

Look at who Wilder's been willing to spend big money on...

Egan (yep, good signing)
Waghorn
And now seemingly, Madine.

That's quite concerning.

You've missed Norwood off that list.

He was also willing to spend money on Luke Freeman.

Nothing concerning about it.

Looking for small crumbs of comfort in all this I’m sure I read something from a team mate at Bolton that said he was tea total now

That noise you hear is straws being clutched

It was alcohol that was the problem. Leaving the PG Tips alone won't have helped his anger issues.......

This is what I like about the move. He's going to be the most motivated player on that pitch when he makes his debut.

I'll back the man when he steps on that pitch.

There are twats and then there are twats that slag our club and cherished players off.

Surely this fucker has crossed the line?

It’s a strange one....it’s brings back memories of the Terry Curran signing.
He’s public enemy number 1 but still wants to play for us.....it’s goimg to be interesting.

It’s either a moment of madness or a touch of outrageous brilliance from Wilder.
Suppose Madine will be hungry with so much to prove. No choice but to trust Wilder.

Fair point although I bet Utd could get more than £4m for Egan now. Marriott may have been a miss (although could we have competed with DCFC financially?) and Freeman would have been very expensive.

Apparently, CW tried to get Dowell in last summer to replace Brooks, albeit on a loan.

Without knowing all the facts (budgets, targets, conversations, other moves, salaries etc) it's impossible to conclusively judge CW's transfer approach. I do however think the experience last Jan or gambling on lower league players who turned out to be not good enough has shaped his current approach to a large extent.
