Madine is now a proven Championship striker.
Whether he's been a cock in the past or not is irrelevant, he seems to have kept himself clean and quiet for some time now.

If he's good enough for Chris, and we all know how much work he does into finding out if players are the right fit for the group or not, he's good enough for me.

And let's be honest we all know for all his faults Warnock doesn't tolerate fools either. So Madine must be doing something right.

He'll be looking to offload him as he wants to stay in the premier league and needs a better forward than Gary Madine in order to do so.

If Madine was a bad egg he'd have been gone in the summer.

I think Madine's a twat and I'd very much rather we didn't sign him.

I thought the Ched Evans signing was something to do with legal shenanigans and I didn't want to sign him either.

I wouldn't give either of them the time of day if I saw them in the street.

I won't sing songs about them but I'd celebrate if they scored. Does that make me a hypocrite? Probably.

From memory, Madine was in trouble before his career took off, for torching some cars up in the North East, then we have the GBH incidents. In one of those, he asked a lad in a club who he supported (keeping in mind that Madine is 6ft 4 towering over you) and when the lad answered "United", Madine punched him so hard that he broke the lads jaw and broke his cheekbone in five places.

This is not just someone having a few too many drinks and knocking a few glasses over as they stagger around drunk.

There is "he was a bit of a lad after a few drinks, when he was younger" and there is "what an absolute fuckin thug".

Madine is the the latter. That's why he has done time in Prison.

Final thought; we all know that team bonding and team spirit are incredibly important to CW, that is why he has lads busting a gut for him. What happens when it's time for team beers?, does he say to Madine, "sorry son, can't take the risk with you, get yourself off and we'll carry on here, see you tomorrow"?

What happens if Madine does stay for a few drinks, and one of the other lads, like Egan, or JOC, has one too many, and says "have you ever been in a scrap with someone your own size?, you only seem to hit little lads in bars in front of your mates, what are you gonna do if I give you a fuckin slap right now?"

I am sure CW and AK have already thought this through, and I am coming to the opinion that Madine is not coming here.
 

One other thing ,CW always thought of himself as one of the boys and most of his mates are similar personalities with Madine ,he knows what he would be getting. The enquiry to Parkin who is one of his best mates in football and a golfing partner will be to gauge Madines attitude to training and in the dressing room which I believe is very good. whether this means he will pursue it is anyones guess.

Nearing the end of "he's one of our own" book, it's quite apparent what CW is to himself, his colleagues, his staff, his friends etc.

If this happens it won't be through lack of thought.

Only one think will determine his success - goals.

My perception is that he's a cock. But that was my perception of Clarke. Then he scored goals and contributed to a brilliant team effort. Madine will be given the chance to do the same.
