Is it true we have extended his contract? Oxley mentioned it on the commentary but I hadn't heard it anywhere else.
 
I think a lot of credit goes to Chris Wilder.

If a player is given clear and simple instructions within a tactical framework
Then it’s surprising how even average players can look so competent and be so effective making a team look exceptional.

Still amazes me how much some of our players have improved.

He’s been offered a longer contract, it hasn’t been said that he’s signed it yet.

Great performance today though.

Glowing praise indeed,that managerial maestro Brian Clough perfected the art and created a wonderfully successful team.There are many of Cloughies characteristics in our manager and the ability to get his team to over achieve is the most significant and rewarding,we are very fortunate because the journey has only just begun.

No he doesn't really.

He's a bit of an old-fashioned, "traditional", defender. Rarely crosses the half-way line. But he's sound and a good standby.

Totally agree in that there are similiarities between Wilder and Clough.

Keith Edwards mentioned on the radio that he’s seen Mark Duffy play many times over the years and he never previously gave a hint that he could be this good. Duffy was a lower league journey man winger that’s been moved to a floating midfield role and is now showing something approaching Premier League quality.

Basham looked average league 1 standard in the early seasons playing for us....now he goes on runs taking on players.
O’Connell is a decent centre back but who would have dreamt that he could play as overlapping winger putting in great crosses.

If you ask me...it’s miraculous/ unbelievable and almost funny.
We play a unique style, play very similar tactics almost every match home and away and all these master tactician opposing managers still can’t stop us.
 
He was ridiculously steady today.

No one should be surprised by his absolute adequacy. He's a good calibre player, he just happened to be available on a free.
 
Begs the question, dare I ask it: Does Cranie stay in the team with Basham dropping to the bench until Cranie gives a reason to be removed? Would be a very brave move after one excellent performance
 
He was excellent, to come into a settled side having played very little in the first team is a tough ask. He didn’t look out of place at all.

Think Bash goes back in anyway, but Cranie seeming to get a knock has saved Wilder an awkward conversation because Cranie seemed like a first choice player, in a different way to Bash but still, solid.

Bash is a yellow away from a two match ban anyway so Cranie will get another chance soon enough you'd imagine, and if he's fit, will probably play in the cup.

That's like asking; ''I ran out of bog roll and had to wipe my arsehole with newspaper. Should I continue to do this, or should i revert back to toilet roll''?

Edit: I've done Cranie a disservice comparing him to newspaper, he was solid today. But you get the idea.
 
Bash has been one of the players of the last two seasons. He’s back in next League game.

Cranie can play in the “Cup” game.
 
You could see a few times we were attacking down the right and Baldock or Duffy looked up, expecting Cranie to be in the sort of position Bash would usually be occupying, only to see Cranie was 20 yards further back.

But defensively he was excellent—dare I say it, steadier than Basham?—and he cleaned up one or two of Norwood’s messes.

Basham has to come back in, especially for a home game, but Cranie looks an excellent option for holding onto a lead—maybe with Bash stepping into midfield.

Similar to how we set up against Wendy at the Sty last season with the bonus of Cranie being a better defender than CCV imo.

Yeah I know what you mean, I guess in this instance Basham is triple-ply and Cranie is the accidental purchase of double-ply. Does the same job in the end, but isn’t quite the same nonetheless

To be fair, I’d put Basham back in too. Would be extremely harsh on Bash when the second yellow in the previous game was the daftest one seen in a while.
