The most blatant penalty ever!

Even though we won I still feel annoyed about that disgraceful blatant penalty the ref missed. McGoldrick just about to score in front of an empty goal, and gets shoved. The linesman in particular must have seen it!

The linesman South Stand side was an utter joke, not sure what match he was watching.

I can't think of a worse referee since we've been in the Championship. He was useless for both teams (can't imagine Derby fans being happy either), but in a different game his incompetence would have cost us far more than it would have cost them.

In a funny way though, I think it lifted our players and fans. But the penalty (non) decision was a disgrace.

Said on another thread that in hindsight that incident did us a favour as the sense of injustice fuelled the passion in the stands and on the pitch. Following their equaliser there was only.one team in it and it actually made the victory all the sweeter.

Awful refereeing, even worse linesmen, but we are all used to that by now.

The good thing is how we reacted and that goal [along with the West Brom finish] will have done McG's confidence a world of good.

Feel exactly the same. Was one of the most obvious I’ve seen. He was about to nod it in and pulled back.

Shocking decision

From my vantage point on the South Stand, Kop end, I had no idea what happened. But McG looked to be between ball and man so logic dictates.....

Its my fault people, sorry.
After about 15 minutes I told my lad that the ref was pretty good and wasn't falling for any diving shithousery.
"But" I continued "whenever I say that it tends to turn out that he's actually shit and will give a bad decision that costs us"................

Funnily enough I said exactly the same after about that time, he was letting the game flow. Then after half time he lost the plot!

They should have finished with 10 men too.
Harry Wilson deliberately pulled back Fleck in the second half and held his hands to his face expecting a certain second yellow only for the ref to turn a ridiculous blind eye to it.
Awful display but it would have made my day if we had scored from the ridiculous back pass decision.
All that was missing was Wilder landing a right hook on Lampard

Ref bottled it. He actually turns Wilson round to look at his number, then decides not to book him as he would have to send him off. Atrocious.

Equally bottled giving Norwood a second yellow for his time-wasting kick of the ball into the South Stand after play had already stopped.

The McGoldrick incident wasn't even in the 'I've seen them given' bracket either. After Carson fluffed it and Goldie went past the only option stopping him scoring was a foul. A challenge is a challenge and if you get the ball, it's play on. Their defender pulled Goldie back then shoved him to put him off putting it into the empty net. So it's a penalty and a red card, or it's a simulation and a yellow, which anyone could see it wasn't.

Fucking woeful refereeing.

pommpey

The fans near me were going mental and it lifted the team.

You’ve contradicted the post you’ve replied to. Was he pulled back or was he shoved?

I’ve thought that it seems an obvious penalty but I can’t say why. It’s almost like it should be because why else would have have gone down.

I couldn’t see specifically what happened in real time and watching the replay back I still can’t see an obvious pull or push.

Watched it back on telly when I got in courtesy of Sky TV (are fucking shit) multi angle replays; totally blatant, nailed on pen. Defenders leftarm pulls back McG’s right shoulder- no way he could jump for the ball. Bad enough the ref missed it, but the most obvious camera angle was basically the linos POV. No excuse whatsoever. Defender was the last man as well, so should have been a red card.

Still think he’d have headed wide though...

Referee was a bulb nib, the crowd came alive and the rest is history..

I know it could have been worse but it’s set us off and raised the volume..

Note to every fucker, start bouncing, and we stop you.. happy days..

I’ve had a reyt day, hope you did too.

I noticed that, Wilson clearly thought he was done for.
