The majority of the first half was an advert for how good Wilder can set a team up and get them playing (against top draw opposition might I add) the Norwood slip aside, they hadn’t lived with us in that first half but conceding at that time proved critical though.
The dressing room must have been interesting, because a different team walked out of it after the break, body language looked like they’d had a fight in there or something and we completely gave up from the whistle.. I’ve not seen that before under wilder.
Without backing wilder to bring in younger replacements the future doesn’t look good because we can’t rely on the ageing players in the team who are the wrong side of 30, their time is running out and the “rollercoaster appears to be at the top” is a fucking great analogy of where we are...
Wilder may be forward planning for some roles whithin the squad and hitting a brick wall, he may have realised where the club actually is because the board did a lot of big ambitious taking but have behaved true to form for united as usual by selling to fund and sustain, also talk of premier league from players is a worry because we did it last season and fell away and last week Norwood said something about it live on Sky, I think we’ve lost that “one game at a time” ethic and started talking shit, might be me and my paranoia but I don’t like it when we talk ourselves up, we don’t have the tools in the locker to be talking ourselves up in December especially in such a strong division..
We as fans always said we’d be happy with a few years and to build, wilder is securing us in this league but has had a taste of being top and knows he’s good enough now, matching his ambition is our “problem” so to speak, as somebody else said 25k a week attendance and champ football suits the owners, but the manager wants to progress the squad and club, and he’s right, but something upstairs is obviously very wrong..
Based on what we’re achieving with what resources are available were doing great, but with a very capable and ambitious manager we’re all frustrated instead.. UTB however, we’ve seen it before.. some of us expected it.
Oh, by the way....
Some comments on here today are laughable, “worst I’ve seen a team” “worst loanee” - fucking short memories some people... but you may be young so I forgive, give it some time kids.
One day you’ll see your version of (42k a week) nosworthy and know what I mean..
