Sorry, i meant outside the games.

However, there is a thought that the world has moved on... You can even drink in home pubs as an away supporter in some cities
The world moved on because of the steps taken to stop hooliganism. If you stop policing games, it would start again.

Fucking embarrassing.

And who are various stakeholders?

God help us if we ever make it into Europe and draw Feyenoord or somebody.

Us, as loyal fans and paying customers are some of the "various stakeholders". Undoubtedly the most numerous of the stakeholders and probably the most affected by the decisions. I wonder if our views and interests are properly represented when decisions are made, or if SYPD and Sky have ALL the say?

I agree on the reasons it stopped, but support has changed a lot in the 30 years since I’ve been going to games

However, I also agree that you’ll never cut it out completely to the point of having a rugby type crowd... but lots more fans go to enjoy games and not fight

If they think that they have to do this they could at least stop traffic from getting down shoreham street so that people can get out quicker and not get slowed down by vehicle dodging.

Are our views represented at all?

Who sits on SAG?

Who decides its membership?

Who is SAG accountable to, and in what ways?

It’s getting to the point where we would be better off without away fans. We have reached the tipping point between atmosphere advantages and inconvenience disadvantages.
Maybe the club should do this for a few big games on TV, just to how stupid the situation has become to all.

I was in the BLUT for piggies and thought the cops had got it right on BL, as we came out onto it there was a big 8 ft barrier across the road which kept respective loonies apart otherwise there would might have been carnage judging by what some p*ssed up blades were threatening at the time.
Me thinks for big games like piggies and weeds, give them the BLUT and BLLT, sort out compost corner by the kop so more can see the full pitch, have a bit of segregation between BLUT and westfield corner and stop making it so hard for our fans to buy tickets and end up with far fewer empty seats and a better atmosphere. We didn't sell out for piggies nor will we tomorrow.

Leeds are getting exactly the same amount of tickets as everyone else.......

Not this old chestnut......Went to Derby and there was one row of stewards between the fans. We have 4 separate stands and still have problems with segregation. BLUT/Westfield is the best view in the ground. I’d sooner half our wank Kop to the away fans than give up my seat in BLUT.

It’s the only part of the ground that isn’t a library. Leave it alone, thanks. :)

I'll bet my bottom dollar there are still issues tomorrow where opposing fans are led into each other, or whichever other force has been drafted in cause unnecessary friction with home fans on backstreets a is the Pig game.

This bottom dollar. Where do you keep it? In the back of your pants ?

Think about this.

Thousands upon thousands of home and away fans enter and exit the ground in close proximity over the course of any season.

And how many incidents are there? Any of note are very rare. They're isolated incidents.

Yet it somehow justifies every measure SYP take?

At any event, in any area where there are a similar number of people together, there will likely be more incidents and more arrests than there is at Bramall Lane, and at football grounds generally. Yet the resulting police operations won't be anywhere near as extreme.

Trouble at football matches is worse and more dangerous than trouble anywhere else it seems. Because people suffer violent deaths every week don't they. I mean, look at the Leicester owner in his helicopter....!

Add the loss of income to the hideously unnecessary inconvenience, and it's got to the point where the club have got to do something about it. They must be something they can do. Because it's beyond a joke now and defies all logic.

Do the club make any effort to change things or do they just oblige like saints with Jurgen our sole representative?

I somehow have managed to go to hundreds and hundreds of games at bramall lane, with out ever really having any problems, or seeing any real trouble ever.

With the possible exception of leedscum tearing the bramall lane end up in the eighties. Even then I didn't really feel in any danger on the south stand.

It's all over hyped bollocks these days. The 70's version of hooligans is gone, long gone.

Myself and esteemed Forgeblade have been going for over 20 years, in the John Street, and for a long time on the kop. Since he was 18, in 2004, we have partaken of various amounts and qualities of ale in variable hostelries before and after the match, walked into and out of town, used buses, transport and trains, and I can honestly say that I have never seen what I would call "trouble" or "football hooliganism" around Bramall Lane. This includes when there were much bigger away followings than recently, and when I was more conscious of avoiding it, when Forgeblade was a child and for a couple of years when his little sister got the Blades bug (before she sadly recovered!). I'm not one to criticise the bobbies, but I do think there's fear and paranoia somewhere. We went to Leeds last season, parked the car about 200 yards from Elland Road, walked to and from the game in an unsegregated way, and saw no bother at all. There were lots of police, but they weren't kitted out in riot gear like they were expecting a revolution or the apocalypse, but presented like they were just there to "keep the peace", which they did. I've seen similar at Villa Park, also recently, with similar results. For whatever reason, it just gets hyped up, which eggs on the small number of idiots, and then "justifies" more steel walls and segregation. I haven't got an answer, I just think it's bonkers and wonder why they carry on. No game in this country (possibly apart from the old firm derby) is exactly Boca v River Plate - how in God's name they'd police that I don't know!

Love the relevant stakeholders comment. Nobody asked me and as i park off Ecclesall Road to get back to Sandygate this is an i convenience. Why not admit that it's SYP who are insisting on this.

Never got a reply from my complaint to SYP after the Wendy game.

I’m laid up here because I can’t sleep, I know I’ve got to be up at 9am to get to Sheffield and meet up for the game, now I’m reading that I’ll be treat like shit again just for going to a football match where in the whole there’ll be no issues, I have somewhere to be at 5 pm Saturday so logistically it’s gonna be tight,

I have sky sports and I’m now thinking of not fucking bothering leaving the house..

SYP are useless and dangerous, they are more a threat than any child in a fake stone island top..

Too true. Let's face it, policing a football game is money for old rope - so easy they invite their mates from Durham. But what if there was no trouble? How would they justify their presence in huge numbers (when you normally don't see a copper for weeks on end)?

Simple. They manufacture trouble. As Davalon rightly says, the bulk of Blades fans will be forced onto St. Mary's Gate after the game and voila! guess which fans will be going the other way to the station? The game will be over by 2.15 and plenty of fans will want to go into town for shopping, a meal & drink, Christmas market etc. but the police will actively prevent this. Aren't city centre businesses 'stakeholders'?

But it's nothing new. Years ago if you drove to Maine Road to watch us play City, there'd be a mob of coppers sat in the corner watching the game. Outside the ground? You just knew you car would be broken into.

Today? Keep the Leeds fans behind for half and hour (or until all the little scrotes in their Stone Island gear get bored of pretending they're organising a ruck on their mow-biles) and let the Blades fans disperse as normal.

Interesting note about them manufacturing trouble - one of the hoolie books has a section on it (possibly the Stoke Naughty Forty one?).

Essentially there's the methods, intelligence and technology (more so now than when the aforementioned book was written) to ensure it doesn't happen 99% of the time. Being academic about it, there's probably also an argument that the presence of the police only fans the flames from a psychological perspective. You see the police and expect trouble; some play up to it.

I should add that I'm not anti-police in a general sense, but their actions at football matches is incredibly disproportionate and a total waste of ever diminishing resource.

I’m gonna be a little contentious here, the article comes from Jurgen Morton Hall, not the Police. Yes, of course they will be the stakeholders he refers to, but how much is down to the club? What efforts have been made by the club and Jurgen as OUR safety officer to stop this nonsense, Other parts of the management of the club are very silent on this one, but then if you’re whisked in on a golden Unicorn (called Brooksy dollar) then I don’t suppose you have to worry about walking anywhere...

Need a bit more responsibility on this one from Jurgen and his pals..

"SYP, SAG and Sheff Council have today announced that the Blades' Champions League game at home to Feyenoord, next week, will either be played behind closed doors at Hillsborough, or moved to St Petersburg. And anyone attending the beamback at Bramall Lane will be required to exit onto Shoreham Street."

Given the regular, and very visible evidence that segregation can be handled effectively in this way (i.e. it's on TV for anyone to see it, every week of the season), it's almost as though SAG and SYP are openly admitting that they cannot do their job competently.
As I am living in Moscow, St Petersburg would be perfect :))))))))))))))))
