Love you to bits Chris, but fuck me you make some strange substitutions. Point gained today though from a very poor performance. How Freeman and Norwood stayed on I do not know.

The game was crying out for Coutts instead of Norwood early in the 2nd half.Freeman poor for a few games now. Thought the Stearmam substitute was right thouLove you to bits Chris, but fuck me you make some strange substitutions. Point gained today though from a very poor performance. I have said this before when did Wilder last make a positive game changing substitution.
Yes, Wilder has been pretty awful with his timing and choices of substitutes for a year now. However, we are so lacking in strength in depth. Our bench is pretty rubbish.
The thing is mate the bench may well be poor but for me that is irrelevant 90% of the time with Wliders late substitutions because nothing needs changing, just leave it as it is to see out the game. He can’t help himself, he has to tinker even when it makes no sense. Yes he should have made changes a lot earlier in the game but to change in the 90th minute for example? a left winger? Just stupid.
You have to bear in mind that we play a very intensive style of football, most of our players aren't naturally athletic and we have several older players. I can understand the need to use subs.
Agree freemans crossing was atrocious.passing wise.most of team need an appointment at specsaversLove you to bits Chris, but fuck me you make some strange substitutions. Point gained today though from a very poor performance. How Freeman and Norwood stayed on I do not know.
Of course there is times to use subs but your missing the point, Wilder does not change it due to a “older” player blowing out of his arse, he changes it for tactical reasons, if it was just because Billy was old he would have stuck Washington on in Billy’s role, and not left it till the 90th minute. He changed it because in his head he is a tactical genius who will mix things up, change players around, change formation, all in injury time when trying to see out the game, no one will ever change my mind but that Sharpe/Johnson substitution was an absolute shocking decision and Wilder needs to knock it on the head and realise he’s not Guardiola.
Maybe subbing a player who has run his bollocks off for very little service and is "blowing out of his arse" IS actually a tactical decision.
It's Sharp btw. No E.
Sharp was fine you must have been watching a different game if you saw him blowing out of his arse, but not surprising you see things differently. If Sharp could not manage the few minutes injury time then he is finished, but he’s not, he could have managed it just fine as well you know. If Wilder thought Sharp was struggling and he wanted to make the change then he could have made a like for like change, Washington for Sharp, but my whole point that you have conveniently have missed is Wilder does not do things like that, he likes to think he is a tactical genius and totally switch it up, change formation etc while trying to see out a game, it’s costing us anyone with half a clue can see that
You're the first person I've ever heard say "he thinks he's a tactical genius". Who told you that? The same bloke who told you the Prince hadn't put any money in since he first arrived.
What cost us today was basic errors and shocking passing from players all across the pitch. Didn't you see any of that?
Yes I saw the same as everyone else, we were poor today, very lucky to get a point .. BUT .. we had the chance to do a smash and grab and get the three points with the 90 minutes up. Didn’t you see any of that?
Wilders strange subs cost us yet again, I don’t truly expect you to see that though because when it comes to actual football discussions on here you not the brightest so we will just agree to disagree or you will just go on and on.

What would that change be ?I have said this before when did Wilder last make a positive game changing substitution.
Dead right Sean, from the first minute R other ham were at our throats and we were lost how to counter act this.He called it spot on in his interview.what disappointed me was the 2ND half was as bad as the first and no formations we tried worked. You're the first person I've ever heard say "he thinks he's a tactical genius". Yes we do.I think the problem is we don’t really have a player on the bench capable of being a game changer.
Midfield was poor today as you say , Norwood and Fleck couldnt pass water , those two and Freeman were very poor the ball was given away numerous times ,no one was on top of there game but the keeper was tremendousWhen the pattern of the game is not great I think managers try to make changes that can help change that pattern. Like for like substitutions can sometimes do that, but there was so much that wasn't working today that I can understand the attempt to make formation changes, hoping that they may also improve the performances of those having substandard games.
I think we were weak in midfield today. Fans are always quick to criticise defensive changes, but the one change we did make before they equalised was an attacking one. Swapping McGoldrick, who likes to drop deep, for a more out and out striker in Clarke suggests we are going for it a little bit more, at a time when we're
Brave or naive?
- leading away
- not playing well
A while before that I think we should have strengthened the midfield - which we did immediately after their first goal, by pushing Basham into midfield and switching to a diamond formation. That change improved things slightly for us and we got ahead again.
The two last substitutions were about adding aerial strength for set pieces and another body behind the ball. I'd like to see it again, but I think the main problem was individual players' poor decision making, rather than the actual substitutions.
