If Blackwell resigned tomorrow would all Blades fans clamour for his reinstatement I think not!
Resign Blackwell- let Gary Speed manage the side and get him a bit of experienced help - that must be the way forward!

Not that he should go but if he did I would want Speed to replace him.

I recommend turning the pc off, getting a pint of water and some headache pills, and going to bed.

Night night, sleep tight.

When you wake up in the morning, you'll still see us in the top six.

Is that the limit of your expectations - top six PS is that along with Watford and Blackpool ?
Perhaps that what Blackwell said to McCabe when he wanted £3 million to by Evans so that he could sit on the bench and we would finish in the top six.

No, it's not, but I've also travelled nearly 400 miles to get to the Lane and back, having seen us get relegated to Division Four. As a six year old.

I've also travelled to watch United away in the Anglo-Italian Cup in a meaningless fixture, so don't even think that I don't want to see United do well.*

I can remember when the manager had to use his own money to fund the purchase of a player (Brian Gayle). We do have to take a deep breath though.

Twice, United have looked to buy promotion. Once in 1996/7 when we got fucked by Palace in the play-offs, and again when Sornob was drafted in, and we could have been playing Yeovil. Just believe. Being beaten by the Irish Non-Swimmers isn't going to cause a Great Famine.

* I can still remember United banning Look Weeds and Weeds TV for showing St David of Bassett boasting about the size of his phallus after four red cards in quick succession in the home match against Udinese :D

The dug outs were next to "Fred West's Garden" that year.

Last season we had a massive wage bill and didn't turn up at Wemberleee, little owd Burnley did it on the cheap.

If we have a massive wage bill this season its just shows how money has been wasted at BDTBL through bad management.

cheap as chips shud go !

It appears that both you and I go back a long way and perhaps have been brought up on continued disappointment But I firmly believe that with the right manager the side that Blackwell had last year should have won automatic promotion and the sole reason we didn't was Blackwell.
Losing to Swansea is not the end of the world, but the manner of the defeat left a bitter taste in many supporters mouths who visit the Liberty Stadium yesterday.
Now on to Tuesday, Newcastle put four past them yesterday what price United on Tuesday?

Or perhaps McCabe said "Cheers Kev for having the foresight to play Naughton and Walker, we raised £11,000,000 and you may well have saved the club from bankruptcy, what with the high wage bill and no more parachute payments. Here's £3 mill to spend on a player. Let's aim for top 2, but considering we've sold half the squad in the past year we'll consider the play offs a job well done."

Who knows? Not you, nor do I. There's a time and place to get on the managers back. A single loss away against Swansea, with half the first team squad out with injuries/bans, when we're well positioned near the start of the season and the week after beating the pigs isn't that time.

But Blackwell didn't sign some of those players, Warnock and Robson did. Also, it's just an unfortunate side effect of going into the Prem that clubs will sign players on huge wages and players/agents will take advantage of that fact.

3-0 up against the pigs and cruising, then .....................

On the footballing side of things at BDTBL the three musketeers are the main problem

McWobbleGob, our terry an cheap as chips.

As I've said, I'm not convinced by any manager who was a goalkeeper, but if you definitely believe that it should have been automatic, one point away really is like hitting the post.

A la Webber?

I only heard the commentary and Edwaaaaaaaaaards' comments said it was hardly vintage, and I'll trust him, and the others who have been. As for Tuesday, I'll say we'll grind a 2-1 win.

Like when Barny Sornob was allowed to get Hendire and Beattiepen? We weren't in the top flight then.

I said bad management....... McCabe an our terry are in that category.
(If McCabe had a football head half as good as his property head we'd be in the Champions League !)

I know what you're saying, but obviously McCabe truely believed Robson was the right man to take us back in one season and took a gamble (and I'd agree that he was very naive in that view, not just in retrospect but even at the time of the appointment I thought he was the wrong man). Having said that, I'd say Robson's choice of players was first class, it's just a shame he's a shite manager with no man management skills, he can't/couldn't motivate his players and he has no tactical knowledge, apart from that he's possibly a great manager :D (I agree with someone who posted earlier on another thread who said he'd have made a great director of football).

McCabe's biggest mistake in my humble opinion (and I know a lot of people will disagree) is letting Warnock go in the first place.

To be honest, I haven't the faintest idea what King Kev I was on when he appointed Barny, unless it was a 'face' for foreign investment.

Yes, a former England captain with a large budget could attract players. Unfortunately, the resident craneflies in my house could have predicted that his tenure would be a disaster, and indeed so we all did, and so it came to pass.

I'm still of the opinion that bickering after the Wigan match with certain directors made St Neil decide to resign. Yes, I agree that the general health of the club and the atmosphere would be better had we kept him.

Well, for "Turry", I'm not sure what he does or doesn't do apart from the conjecture on various forums. Maybe he's the devil incarnated, maybe he's as incompetent as some people suggest, maybe he just gets stick and is the obvious fallguy because of his Lancashire roots (which is my suspicion). I don't really care to be honest, he's not the main man.

As for McCabe, I think he's made mistakes (see my last post about Robson). But I think he has the club's best interest at heart. I don't think he ever said he has all the answers? Maybe he is making it all up but doing his best as he's going along? Just like you, me or anyone else would if we were in his position. There's a couple of things I would say in his defence:

1. He's not a reactionary chop and change chairman who dumps the manager as soon as the going gets tough. You only need to look at Southampon, Charlton, Leeds, etc to see how that works out!

2. He's trying to take the club forward. The plans are always future based: improved stadium, hotel, offices, more seating, better facilities, higher profile in foreign countries and alternative revenue streams. I know the reaction to this will be that he could have improved the playing squad instead, but it isn't that simple. Most of these improvements will be loans based on expected growth. If you can prove to investors that you want to purchase a hotel at £x and the business will take £y and return £z, it's a fairly easy sell. Go to a bank and say you want £100,000,000 to do a Risdale and they'll laugh at you! At least he's putting something into the club, which is more than we can say about most of our recent chairman.
