Anyone else prefer it if we had a chairman who actually attended all the games so he could pick up on the mood and spirit in the camp - rather than relying in second hand reports and rubbish from Blackwell?

I'm of course assuming he wasn't there?

Losing at Coventry was an accident, albeit brought on buy terrible squad building. Most of us can accept that the odd game will be lost unexpectedly. This one today is unforgivable. Nothing less than 2 home wins now will suffice.

No - huge admiration for Blades who went. They deserve alot more than what they got.

I'd be asking serious questions if I had spent £3m on a bench warmer. I know he could do this via phone etc.

Clealry sounds like we didn't deserve to lose but this type of result has happened twice now in space of 2 weeks and it's very concerning for the long term.

Nope couldn't care less if McCabe goes to the away matches or not.

Also I would say you were doing McCabe a disservice if you think he gets all his info about the mood of the team from the manager.

Fair enough Bob - perfectly valid opinion. I'm sure he does get reports from travelling directors etc, but I personally would like him to see it more often for himself.

I think a lot more fans get second hand information than McCabe ever could.

Lot's who don't go are the loudest to sound disappointed after a loss than the ones who go.

I haven't been but am waiting for people I know who have gone who I trust to tell me the truth about our performance.

McCabe will get a full lowdown on all goings on at the club and it wouldn't surprised me if he had a internet feed of every match possible when he doesn't get to the match.

At the very least, KM probably listens to the commentary via Bladesworld. Keith Edwards again mentioned "no plan B" again today.

thats reight ............. our terry Blackberries him !

he goes to as many as he can and his family are always in attendannce. Didn't spot him today, but he'd be sat elsewhere.

If you can decide the problems without being there, why couldn't he?

I would very much like him to have a footballing man on the board (someone like the rumour Graham Taylor or even John Barnwell), to advise him on footballing matters.

As for McCabe do we seriously think he won't either get the game streamed live or get a DVD sent over to him.
I would think a copy of the match would be available live or a DVD would be send to him by tomorrow should the club request it.

It seemed we were close to getting a footballing man on the board last year, but it all seemed to fizzle out.

Ironically I think Robbo would of done a half decent job in that role.

Identifying players having good contacts in the game were certainly among his strong points, unfortunately getting the best out of these players once they were here weren't. I would still want contracts and the like sorted out by the finance bods though, football people seem to be a little wooly when it comes to balancing the books.

I personally do not believe that McCabe will watch every single game. Could be wrong but I seriously don't see it.

I think he will watch the vast majority, but neither of us has a chance of proving our cases.
Unfortunately I don't think we have anywhere to go forward with this discussion.

I suppose the answer is "who knows?"

Agreed Bob.

Just to clarify though - I'm not all that bothered about him watching the DVDs or not, I'm more concerned that he doesn't attend many games to get the mood of the camp and fans - which you can't get in full from DVD imo.

My Mrs hasn't been to a game since the mid-80's, but she seems to have a good idea of how we're playing. I think my general demeanour and the fact the cat seems to hide behind the sofa when i get home give her a clue !!

Good point Stan, like it, but unfortunately your Mrs isn't the controlling shareholder at BDTBL.

like i said, on the occaisions he isnt there he has family anfd trusted staff. He knows exactly how it is.

I cudn't give 2 fcuks if McCabe is at a game or not ............

but he needs to sort out the problems at BDTBL pronto !

:D

Thank God she isn't !! She struggles to give me my weekly beer money...she'd never have paid £3mill for Chedwyn

Players, Staff, Tea ladies, and even the groundstaff moan like buggery when things aren't going well. Something would get out, especially to someone like McCabe. Grumbles have a nasty habit of always making their way to the top when people want them to.
There are plenty of personalities at the club and some people will get on and some won't.
I think you can rest assured that Blackie will have shone enough people up the wrong way to ensure someone would be only too happy to pass on any unrest in the camp.

He's not there to advise on football matters though is he? Is he supposed to concoct some new formations up, or a way to get some consistency out of Cotts?

We lost, sounds like we shouldn't , but we did. In the general scheme of things, given we are nowhere near good enough for a top two slot even in Duncanland, it's no biggie.

Yep, two games where lady luck hasn't gone our way, we'll live.

Would you rather our chairman was out of work and just went steaming into the club all guns blazing to keep him busy, attending every match, painting every step, writing on forums and generally looking like he belongs on the Owls version of Blades Mad?

As regards the two games - nothing to do with lady luck just bad defending and I would say lady luck smiled on us against Wendy when again bad defending gave away two soft goals - On balance if we play the rest of the season like the last three games halfway up the table at best
As for the chairman well the Wendy guy is a complete tool McCabe - well for me the jury is out at the moment but persuading Blackwell to stay this season was not the smartest move he has ever made!

kin el Micalijo! You'll be complaining about the type of suits he wears next.

McCabe can't go to all the games, the reason being that his Tax status is "non UK resident".

It means that for McCabe (and a few like myself) that he's only allowed to be in the country for a maximum of 183 days per year, but with an average of no more than 90 days on a four year period.

I think McCabe picks up on the vibe coming out of the lane, he no doubt listens to Praise or Grumble occasionally and speaks to players, fans and staff at the club.

I seem to remember that in the Q & A transcript on here that he even gets feedback on internet activity from Andy Daykin.

Hey, I'm just going on what Micaligo said.

As for persuading Blackwell to stay. Had we sacked Blackwell after the play off final or made him stick to his 'heat of the moment' words (when he didn't actually say he was leaving, just saying he may consider it) it would have been stupid & daft. Just like Chelsea sacking Raneri & Grant when they were one or two games, or a post width away from winning the Champions League.

As a general rule, you don't sack managers who gain over 85+ points throughout a season, and to sack him now when we're in the playoffs and only lost 2 games (lady luck) is utter nonsense.

He'll be judged by his results, not by some half baked loony tunes posting as if they are god on here:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::fishy::fishy::fishy::fishy::fishy:

:gallop:Don't be so hard on yourself mate.

i think mccabe should be at every game home and away and should dress head to toe in red and white with his face painted and his arms tattooed
