Shane Longs name will resurface shortly
Dropped by Saints yesterday for Gabbiadini and he scored
A striker that doesn’t score goals, aye that’s exactly what we need.

But ambition .
We will not be in this position again , fantastic attacking team still in the top 6 despite not winning consistently, it's now or never . If we don't go up this season I fear people at the club will leave or be past there best !!
This guy can also plays winger or midfield and has a good goal ratio where ever he has played .
Don’t get me wrong when I said ‘wages’. I said that because it’s the go-to answer to every suggestion.
We have to break the wage structure at some point. The current squad are on contracts they’re happy with (they agreed the deals). But surely even they know that for the club to push on it needs better players and they come with a fee. I’m sure Wilder knows this too. The club can’t be stubborn forever.
We need to strengthen in that final third and that is blatantly obvious. Finding the right guy won’t be simple but it’s top of the shopping list.
I haven’t seen Maupay play whatsoever so won’t pass comment. I like Defoe and think he’d do a job even at his age. Crouch frightens defenders without having to touch the ball. Would a short-term loan be an option perhaps?? Lee Gregory is another one who scores often enough to warrant a mention.
Pity we couldn’t touch Rhodes. Hes proving what he can do played on the right positions with the right service. Lewis Grabban is another one that is probably out of our reach.
Spot on. The names that have been spouted are laughable. Old biddies and crocks. This fixation with needing a striker shows a lack of tactical understanding. We dont create enough chances for strikers to feed on, teams now park the bus against us so anyone with pace will have that nullified. We need a goalscoring midfielder, someone with a shot on him and we don't have one. Defences will then not know whether to close him down (leaving space behind for a thru ball) or leave him with a chance to shoot.Mitrovich is a young player, bought by Newcastle as someone they thought would step up to the PL, a current international. He fell out with Benitez. He went to Fulham, who still had parachute payments, because Jokanovic was a fellow Seb and he needed game time before the World Cup.
In what way are players like Wickham, Carroll or Defoe like that? They’re crocks and pensioners who’ve barely kicked a ball in the last two seasons.
The reality is, you don’t get a Mitrovich available every season.

Wash your fucking mouth out now! Fletcher? Oh my god Matt, what the fuck are you on mate? This is what we're lacking. A clinical finisher. Someone who can turn a game on it's head on their own. Evans did it in League 1 for us. He could work a chance single handedly. We don't have that type of striker anymore.
You know who would be a decent be signing - Steven Fletcher... HEAR ME OUT!!
He gives something we lack - height and the ability to attack a cross. Granted he was only winning headers in his own box on Friday but he, or someone like that would be a good option to mix it up a bit. We did this with Hanson, he did a job but wasn't a starter.
Teams don't push up and press, their midfield might do but defence sits back! They sit back now like piggies did meaning there is no room to exploit them using pace. It's my understanding that the phrase 'mitrovic signing' refers to the idea of an ambitious championship cub, who after finding themselves there or there abouts at the JTW, but are a little shot shy, loan in a player from the premiership, who represents a level above what they've got, he then fires them to promotion. I don't think people are asking for a directly comparable player.
The reason why we need more fire power is nothing to do with a lack of tactical understanding, it is to do with the following:
1. Our current promotion push is being powered by a 32 yr striker (33 in feb), a 30 yr old forward (soon to be 31) who has had an injury plagued career and a 33yr old forward (34 in feb), who after a great scoring run at the back end of 2017 has scored 7 goals in his last 40 league appearances, and who to my untrained, tactically naive eye currently resembles a fart in a cullender.
2. We lack pace up front to such an extent that it allows the better teams to move up the field and press, because they are happy to risk a foot race with BS, LC and/or McG and teams know that we rarely if ever go long.
3. We lack a proper aerial threat from our forwards, which means that we rarely exploit set pieces.
4. We lack a forward who can create half a chance for themselves through a moment of skill, strength or pace.
5. We lack anything on the bench that can come on a snatch a result. Under Warnock we had PP and WA to come on when needed.
We also need an attacking goal scoring CM to eventually replace Duffy.
Teams don't push up and press, their midfield might do but defence sits back! They sit back now like piggies did meaning there is no room to exploit them using pace.
Water under the bridge now but Leonard has popped 2 in since leaving for Milwall. In my opinion it’s obvious we need to change our transfer strategy. We’ve already taken too many gambles on players from lower divisions that haven’t paid off (Leonard, Holmes) the players we have brought in from a similar level especially up front are not that much better than what we already have (Washington and even though McGoldrick is an improvement on Clarke we still need another striker). Even the players we’ve brought in from above, Henderson aside, have had little impact (Woodburn and Kean Bryan).
Looking abroad has to be on the agenda for us now. The extra scouting costs are covered by the fact we can pick up players with great ability for far less than we would pay for a similar standard English player.
If we want to buy quality British players we need more money than is currently available, that’s why some of the names mentioned on here Andy Carrol etc. are being considered as viable options.
We have an aging squad that if we keep adding more older heads to may get us up in the next couple of years but if they do, then what? They won’t be able to cut in the Prem anymore, so we then have the issue of trying to assemble a completely new squad and then try to stay up. Thats why Warnock can never stay in the Prem, he uses experienced players to get up there but then never has that extra bit of quality to stay there.
We have to start thinking longer term and investing in the future of our squad so that when we do get up we can sustain our position there. That doesn’t happen overnight.
Looks like he is on his way back to City who paid £12m for him from Fulham in 2015. Successes came in Scottish football. He's a winger too and isn't fitting in with Girona's wingback system so how would he fit into ours?I've mentioned this player before
Good team man
Good attitude
Fantastic ability
Tears defenders apart
Wages much higher than the rest of our players
PATRICK ROBERTS
Been on loan at Girona but not playing and coming back to England in January apparently
Get Patrick Roberts in our team with Wilder giving him free reign to cause havoc and we're going up......simple as that
It all depends on whether our boardroom have got the bollocks to pay somebody £40,000 a week short term
And no, the rest of our team won't have the fucking face on, they'll recognise him as an unbelievable talent and be happy to play alongside him
I thought you were both joking at first but now I’m not so sure. Are you seriously suggesting that we would be able to sign Neal Maupay?
It’s no wonder there’s so much disappointment when the transfer window comes around.
Your right , I am so sorry getting carried away again , he will prob go to A Villa when his old manager comes back for him !
Now lets think of a worn out knackered striker we can sign ??![]()
I am not disagreeing with you , he's out of our league ! I really think if we don't do it this season Mr Wilder will leave though , plus various players , I cant believe we kept Fleck , when you saw Barry Bannon on Friday night you realise how good Fleck and Duffy are !How much do you think we could sign Maupay for?

'Baldy' Davitt
Everyone talks about our ageing strikeforce and now some suggesting we bring in even older ones!
If we're going down that route, why not go for Davitt?
He certainly got Barnstoneworth Utd. out of the shit when they brought him back.
I've put his name forward before think he could do a good job for us in the number 10 role
Yeah I agree ,would like to think we'd be at least interested in players like thisHe's not an out and out winger though hence why I said Wilder should give him free reign to go anywhere he likes
He's incredibly skilful, quick, direct and scores goals
They say he's going back to Celtic so we dont stand much chance anyway, but he is exactly what we need, massive upgrade on Duffy and can also play twice a week and last 90 minutes
