What strikers are not getting a game at Premier League clubs? Wages schmages, if it all goes to plan every cunt will get a massive pay increase at the end of the season, and if it doesn't, the striker will go back to his club anyway.

Colin Quaner
Conor Wickham
aNdY cArRoLl
Some academy fucker

I'd take any of the above, although they're not quite Mitrovicish. Where do we pluck a reight good striker from?

This is what we're lacking. A clinical finisher. Someone who can turn a game on it's head on their own. Evans did it in League 1 for us. He could work a chance single handedly. We don't have that type of striker anymore.

You know who would be a decent be signing - Steven Fletcher... HEAR ME OUT!!
He gives something we lack - height and the ability to attack a cross. Granted he was only winning headers in his own box on Friday but he, or someone like that would be a good option to mix it up a bit. We did this with Hanson, he did a job but wasn't a starter.

Are you going to pay Fletchers wages? Those Bentley's don't come cheap you know.

36 year old Defoe, are we just giving up on Billy? They cant play together. Permanently injured Wickham and Carroll? No goals Fletcher?

All the British options seem shit to be honest. I genuinely have no idea who we could get. But no to all those options

Id avoid Wickham with a 10ft bargepole. Defoe could be a masterstroke. Would we go back in for Hogan very talented was close in the summer. Only sub twuce this season for villa so could be available

Neal Maupay
Brentford
104 mins per goal.
1252 mins played
12 goals scored
Here's yer man , club just lost there long time manager to villa , only striker ahead of billy in the league at moment , go get him McCabe!

But....wages.

Any player in that category/level will have to be a loan signing.
We might have the money to sign a player with a fee in excess of 10m, but at the moment that just isn’t a good idea. And I know folk will argue the toss, but a permanent with that kind of fee is only sustainable in the premier league. We aren’t in the premier league. Yes that type of signing MIGHT promote us, but it is only a might.

So we loan one, perhaps a fee agreed for a permanent on promotion but it’s the only option. Not least to keep the harmony within the club.
It works, we go up, happy days.
Pay rises to match the status of the players all round.

But....wages.
But ambition .

We will not be in this position again , fantastic attacking team still in the top 6 despite not winning consistently, it's now or never . If we don't go up this season I fear people at the club will leave or be past there best !!
This guy can also plays winger or midfield and has a good goal ratio where ever he has played .

Apologies for the self quote........

I've come to the conclusion that it would need to be a loan deal of a mitrovic quality player. Someone currently in the prem, but not playing, either out of favour at their current club or coming back from injury. These types of player will also be of interest to our promotion rivals. Please don't think that I'm suggesting that we are capable of signing all of them, just that the following players fall into that group:

Solanke
Origi
Nketiah
Janssen
Llorente
Defoe
Bonatini
Okaka
Diabate
Lookman
Andone
Wickham
Carroll
Gallagher
Quaner

Not wishing to criticize fellow Blades on here
But aren’t some posters on here are criticizing our aging 30+ strikers already , now names that are coming up is 35+ aged strikers
We need people to compliment the strikers we have
I’d be tempted to go for a striker looking for a game from prem but also either that lad from Hull up front 8 goals this season or that one from Reading 8 goals already this season on a perm , then fall back to that lad from Villa
Andy Carroll are ya havin a fuckin laugh

Don’t get me wrong when I said ‘wages’. I said that because it’s the go-to answer to every suggestion.

We have to break the wage structure at some point. The current squad are on contracts they’re happy with (they agreed the deals). But surely even they know that for the club to push on it needs better players and they come with a fee. I’m sure Wilder knows this too. The club can’t be stubborn forever.

We need to strengthen in that final third and that is blatantly obvious. Finding the right guy won’t be simple but it’s top of the shopping list.

I haven’t seen Maupay play whatsoever so won’t pass comment. I like Defoe and think he’d do a job even at his age. Crouch frightens defenders without having to touch the ball. Would a short-term loan be an option perhaps?? Lee Gregory is another one who scores often enough to warrant a mention.

Pity we couldn’t touch Rhodes. Hes proving what he can do played on the right positions with the right service. Lewis Grabban is another one that is probably out of our reach.

Loan signings are the only way we are getting anyone who is already classed as a decent striker, apart from that we don't have the funds and won't pay the wages.

The only way we'll end up with anyone like a Maupay is if we take a punt on a lower league player and it comes off.

I'd send someone to look at macauley bonne at leyton orient (and also Koroma). I fully appreciate that it is a low standard, but as well as looking at a Mitrovic type player for this season, we need to be looking at players for the future who might be worth £10m after they've had a season at Peterborough types. Bonne is a 23 yr old striker who's scored 14 in 19 so far this season, and scored 22 in 44 last season. He seems to have a bit of everything, and can take a penalty. :)

I said on Friday at the match.

‘They’re just sitting back parking the bus and yet again we’re finding it so difficult like we did for a spell in league 1”
‘Do you know who we could do with and he’d make a massive difference?.......James Hanson”

Agree Fletcher would be ideal when opposition teams constanty defend on the edge of their box.

This sums it up.

Top lower league players are investments for the future, we need someone for now.
A gauranteed improvement on what we have in the glamour position of striker or attacking midfield will cost at least 10 to 15 million.

Realistically our best bet might be to contribute £50K a week towards a PL players wages and bring him in on loan.

He did ok i thought on Friday and certainly would be more physical than any of our current Strikers.
But unfortunately it will never happen, wages being the main problem, also not sure on his injury record seem to remember seeing on Porktalk he can't play two games in a week and Jos seems to like to take him off after 70min although he didn't Friday night.
