'Murdered' them 0-0. This is just the rhetoric they used last year after the Lane match and they were rightly mocked for it.

Rodley actually said "first half" Then said we ran out of steam.

Not quite the same as you are suggesting is it?

Been ter 't pub. Heard griping " Got so many injuries blah blah blah blah".

Come back 'ome and opened a tin. Feckin deluded delusionalists.

It can be very difficult to score against teams that come to the Lane primarily to defend, especially from open play when they have men behind the ball and are waiting for us. In fact we've only managed to score twice from the latter scenario in our last six games.

We need to try catching teams out more often, punish them when they're vulnerable, before they get men back and get organised.

In League One the signing of Hanson did have an effect on results.

I feel teams are starting to anticipate the cut backs, our composure and the patient passing into the box, meaning more often they get blocks in. I think it could give us another string to our bow if we had a real aerial threat when we're struggling, forcing the opposition to worry about high, far post crosses in addition to what we do now.

We should also be looking for an alternative to Duffy, and goal record and shooting should be key attributes to look for.

Yes. Still doesn't change my point.

Sorry, was being a dick. I still think the rhetoric is OTT when all we managed was a draw. All this talk of moral victories and Wednesday being embarrassed reminds me of when we used to beat them and all the Wednesday fans used to go on about having more shots or whatever.

Anyone who watched the game last night needs to think on..

1, Blades handed out a footballing lesson and only the most porcine Wednesday fan doesn't realise it.

2, We weren't good enough to unlock an 8/9 man defence.

3, Ask themselves, how many points could this team, plus £100million spend, get in the Premier League, if promoted.

I'd take issue with your point 2. I think people are getting over stuck on this - we didn't unlock an 8/9 man defence on this occasion, which is different to not being good enough to do it. We did get a penalty and did have chances. If Billy's header had been a foot better placed, everything would be fine, but the game, the play and the chances would have been exactly the same.

You quote an instant. But we had 90 mins.

Of course, but that's what it's all about. Every 1-0 (or one goal margin) victory is one instant in 90 minutes. It's how the sport works, by all rights we should have had 4 or 5, but they turned up with a plan and on the day our "instant" didn't happen. It could have been the penalty, it could have been Billy's header, or several other moments.
My point is, we were capable of breaking it down, just didn't on the day. If the sport didn't work like that, it wouldn't be worth watching.
