If all fit then I think the team picks itself and must go with:

Hendo

Bash
Egan
Jack

Freeman
Norwood
Fleck
Stevens
Duffy

Sharp
Didsy

Let's tear into them from the off and see how they cope. An early goal for us would be just the tonic but could well be a nervy night for the players and not just both sets of supporters.

Hoping for a passionate entertaining game with another 3 points to put us top again.

Freeman can't play like he has and keep his place for a game like this.

Duffy and McGoldrick are what I think Wednesday struggle with most, so both should play. Sharp and McGoldrick have been our best strike pairing this season.

First and foremost please Footballing Gods let Duffy be fit. In for Coutts if so.

Bash in for Cranie, McGoldrick in for Clarke and maybe Baldock in for Freeman.

Get at em straight away, their defence is made of straw. Get an early goal or two and I don't see them coming back like they did at the Sty.

If we let them off and they settle, I can forsee heartbreak come 10pm. They are that kind of team.

Bang on Stretch. We need an early goal because if ever a team needs a result next week and are prepared to park the bus it’s that lot. Another 0-0 victory would suit them nicely. The movement of Duffy AND McGoldrick will hopefully be too much for them. Billy to score in front of the kop. Stuff of dreams

There is the chance that we will batter them for 90 minutes and Reach will hit one in from 30 yards. That's the thing that worries me so we need someone on his toes everything he's within range. Stick someone on him and he won't receive the ball simples. The rest of that shower have nothing individually that we haven't got.

The team picked for the Villa match has won 5 out of 6 games. The only game they lost was Derby away where we played some good football and but for a change in formation during the game we would have picked a point up there. Duffy is integral to the 3-1-4-2 formation with Mcg

McGoldrick and Sharp running off him in front. Basham and Oconnell seem to get forward better in this shape and we get crosses in much earlier. If Duffy has to go off we need to keep formation and McGoldrick drops into the 10 and Leon comes on up front. As others have said the only issue is Freeman or Baldock. If Duffy is not fit then Leon starts with Mcg playing Duffys role.

I don't want to see us playing a flat midfield at Home or at any point during the game. We do not have the pace out wide to play this formation and the Pigs will just sit deep and hope to catch us out from a set piece. Yesterday was an example of why the flat 3 doesn't work. Lots of passing in areas where it doesn't hurt the opposition, trying to walk the ball into the net, very few first time crosses and nothing troubling the goalkeeper. We need to get behind the pigs and if its not working bring the likes of Johnson on with his pace.

Didsy? You've confused me with that one!

Stuff of dreams indeed. Would love Billy or Duff to bang one in at the BL end as well, run behind the goal and proper stick it to em.

So Freeman has one bad game and he’s out?
No way

Is Duffy fit for Friday??. Don’t really care much about the team as long as though— WE WIN AND ARE CELEBRATING ON FRIDAY NIGHT!!. UTB

I have kept Freeman in to start but he does seem to tire quite easily. Perhaps bring Baldock on when he does tire around the hour mark. Unless we are 5-0 up by then

I rate Baldock, but all this hammer Freeman is getting is over the top.

For the goal yesterday we had the whole team in the box and yet left Freeman to be run at one-on-one by a 13mill Portuguese winger.

Freeman has been poor in recent away games - not just for vital moments but overall defensive play. Both winning goals at Derby and Forest due to his inability to stop the cross. Yes he was isolated but the way he let the player skip inside him was really poor. I would keep him in for Friday but it is not like he has had one bad game. We forget how poor Freeman was when he was forced to defend- long before Wilder came. When he does have to the defensive stuff more than going forward does not look anywhere near the same player.

- Henderson -

Basham - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Stevens
Evans ---------- Lundstram --------- Quinn
- Brooks -
Cresswell - Sharp
- Marcus Bent -

Freeman isn't in the best form at all but this game could be more suited to him than Baldock if they do set up to defend like we expect them to.

Hopefully Duffy is fit and McGoldrick and Sharp are up top. Every other position picks itself at the minute.

Agree with some of that. I watch premier league full backs get beat consistently one v one when they're isolated and ran at, all you can do is guess. He should've got out quicker in the Derby game, but at Forest the quicker Freeman runs toward the winger the harder it is to adjust when the winger tries to beat him.

Whatever he picks will be wrong and if it is by some mischance correct, he will fuck it up by his subs. Yours, Mr Happy.:(

I got a few pelters on here for suggesting Freeman was knackered a few weeks back but if you can’t see it now then you never will, the bloke needs a rest and freshening up so he can come back and play like we know he can.

As good as Freeman has been this season and the fact I like him doesn’t alter the thought process that for me, Baldock has to play in this game.

I think we also need to utilise Johnson more aswell.
