just wondering if this is going to be a sell out or not?
So many people asking for tickets on this and that website and a combination of 500 points needed and sky tv to hinder attendance. Am I correct in being a season tkt holder I cannot use 500 points to buy a TKT either?
Be a big shame if the game isn’t completely sold out through red tape ticketing.

The more pertinent question is why is it police advice that people need 500 loyalty points for this and the Leeds games?

I didn't see any trouble inside the ground last year. So why the change? (you can require 50,000 loyalty points for a game and there will be trouble outside the ground, so it ain't that).

Did Wednesday fans need loyalty points to buy tickets against Leeds earlier in the year? If not, why are we treated differently? There's always masses of trouble at Wednesday v Leeds games too.

It does seem ludicrous if people miss out and we don't sell out. I get the point "500 loyalty points is easy to get", but I know people who've been attending games for 40+ years who've never had a customer number. They either paid on the gate (back when you could), rocked up and bought a ticket, or ask friends/family to buy tickets for them. It's easy in hindsight to say they should have done X, Y or Z (and I'm sure in future they'll buy tickets using a customer number), but it's a shame they'll miss out this time if there are empty seats.

It's like when you can't get a job at 16 because you have no experience, and the only way to get experience is to get a job.

Can't get a ticket to a game because you've not been to any games. It's nonsensical.

The answer Tom, is to go to games and amass 500 points so you you can attend just the one game you really want to go to. It's not as if the Pigs game has suddenly been sprung on us and a loyalty points system hasn't been in place for a number of years.

Had a quick look online.
Odd seats here and there on Kop and John Street.
Looks like top left block of BLUT has got 200+ seats still available.

Hey I'm not complaining, I've got my points and my ticket.

But as has been said, it'd be a shame if it were to not sell out because of rules which, to my knowledge, weren't in place until this season.

On the flipside of course, it stops piglets infiltrating our stands.

The best thing about this, is that the coppers haven't yet realised, that's it's best to have as many fans as possible in the ground, cos town will be busy anyhow, as it's Friday night, and the game is on sky, so I'm guessing there will be some falling out anyway, people will be going straight into town after too, so the risk of summat kicking off is massive. Surely, yo make this game safer, a Sunday lunch kick-off was the way to go??

They moved it to midday kick off. Sky then moved it to Friday night.

Which is absolutely crazy (although I don't agree with moving it to midday either, and much prefer it being Friday night. Not sure why I should be deprived of going to the pub because a few bell ends can't behave themselves).

Because SYP are utterly fecking clueless and like to feel important...

It's like Rock Paper Scissors but in this case Sky beats Coppers.

Apparently 2000 tkts left

Last seasons match was a total sell out, even all the restricted view were sold.
Stadium capacity 32,709 but the SY Police let us sell 31,120 tickets.

So assume 31,210 is the current capacity., that would mean just over 29,000 sold so far.
Might not break through the 30k mark, although plenty of time yet to sell a few 100 more.

Just about 650 left an heard a rumour that if you can show a purchasing history they have relaxed the 500 point policy

This is good news for my missus Petunia. She’s not got 500 points but she’s got a reight purchasing history. I’ll send her down to the Lane then to get a ticket and tell her to take proof of purchasing history with her. They’ll be amazed when she gets out all them receipts from Meadowhall.

I like the job reference, maybe we could interview prospective fans and question why now they feel it’s the right time to go to a game !

Joking apart it perhaps should be opened up to fans who have any points from the last 2 years if we get to Monday and there’s still tickets left.

The daftest thing about the draconian ticketing is all the otherwise 'necessary' moving of games to 12 o'clock kick-offs against Wednesday, Leeds, Millwall etc immediately goes out the window when Sky come calling.
Suddenly United can play Wednesday on a top beer night of the week, no problem.

Agree with your main point about Sky.

But it's hardly 'draconian' to ask for 500 Loyalty points.
Anyone who is a genuine supporter will have amassed that meagre amount with no effort at all, leaving only those who want to come to the biggest game of the season struggling.

It's all A* games, innit?

I recall Bashar Al Asaba had a mate who really wanted a ticket for the Villa game earlier this season, but in order to get the points he had to also purchase tickets for Hull and Norwich at home (which he did).

Which is exactly what we should have done here - a '3 game ticket' (Stoke, Wigan & Pigs). It would have boosted a Tuesday night game and not-the-most attractive Wigan attendances. Not at 'face value' though. £70 would be more than adequate.

I can't think of any other entertainment business - cinema, theatre, even going to the pub - that throws up so many obstructions to the 'walk up customer'.

Indeed, as has been done before. It puts pigs off forking out for three games as it isn't cheap (although it'd be cheaper than their gaff) and they won't want to go to the other two, whereas Blades will.

An impassioned plea from DB to the players and staff of Sheffield United FC.

Please, pretty please and with hundreds and thousands on top, to a man, be at it for this game.

If this means holding back a tad at Florist, do it. Seriously.

I am not getting any younger. Wether I like it or not, the spectre of 1979 still lingers !

Before I pop off, I need closure.

You lot, you beautiful lot, will almost certainly be my best chance of this.

They are there for the taking IF we are at our best. No doubt.

Oh, 5-1 as good as this is, is NOT actually good enough. 4-0 + works better :)
