We've been all over the place with the "leave early, don't leave early" row (discussion?). I get that some people have to come in a car, they may have no alternative, so "leaving early" because of the traffic is a good option (perhaps) for them. But too many people seem averse to using their legs, and, God forbid, public transport!!!!! I used to live in Intake, and have lived between Barnsley and Penistone for a few years now. Doing either in a car, which I do (or did) VERY occasionally, is an awful waste of time and limits beer time, which I rather like with my football. My usual routine involves getting on a train about 12.50 and partaking of my first pint about 1.35 in the Tap or the Rutland (RIP Sentinel). In the ground for kick off, clap (or otherwise) the team off. NEVER leave early. Usually in the Tap for about 5.05, this leaves time for a relaxed pint (or a swift two!). On the train at 5.35, in the house for 6.20. Obviously later trains are available, should further evening entertainment be on the cards! Evening games are no more difficult, better actually as it usually means 45 minutes in the pub after rather than 30, then the last train. Still home for 11.20. It was even easier when I lived in Intake!!!!! Leaving early is everyone's right, and we still live in a free society. Some people will have good and necessary reasons to leave early. But I don't get the hoards who do it every week, the same people, with the same crap "traffic" excuse. If you want to avoid the traffic, don't be part of it. Be creative, use your time better, stay till the end, and just chuffin chill out and enjoy it more. I'm slightly struggling at the moment with the Northern train strike, but there are ways and means of getting there and back without the dreaded "traffic"!!
