How many managers have won promotions from the Conference, League 2, League 1 and the Championship? I’m tempted to say Dave Bassett, but weren’t Wimbledon elected, rather than promoted, to the league in the days before promotions from non league?

If CW should get us up would he be the first manager to achieve this? Or are there any others?

Warnock has done this

Scarborough 1987 - conference to 4th tier
Notts County 1990 - 3rd tier to 2nd tier
Notts County 1991 - 2nd tier to 1st tier
Plymouth 1996 - 4th tier to 3rd tier

Bassett has done the top 3 steps but did not take Wimbledon into the league (and there was no automatic promotion then anyway)

There may be another manager who has done all 4 but I can't think of one. A number of managers (Bassett, Martin O'Neill, Graham Taylor, John Toshack) have done 3 of the 4.

Don’t think Bassett was manager when Wimbledon were promoted. Think it was Dario Gardia with Bassett as no 2

Wimbledon went up 3 times in 5 years from division 4: Bassett was manager the last time.

They went:

1979 promoted
1980 relegated
1981 promoted
1982 relegated
1983 promoted
1984 promoted
1985 mid table
1986 promoted to div 1

Kin 'ell so Warnock went from manager of a tier 1 club, down to that of a tier 4 club in 5 years! Wow.
