I used to love watching Yokohama Marinos and the Japan national team when i was in Japan for this reason, the sellers coming with back packs with draught and coolers with cans of beer.

I'm guessing that English fans won't behave in the same way that the Japanese (and us Gaijins) did at those games.

Won’t apply to us anyway as SYP will be looking for any chance to ban it on ‘police advice’.

Although a good idea, for certain fixtures it could be a disaster waiting to happen.

I am a big rugby fan, more so than footy, but have stopped going to Internationals as you don't get to see the game for people going to and from the bar and to and from the toilets.

Why people can't just watch the game and have a beer before and after is beyond me.

I don’t understand why the ban is in place to be honest. The idea that someone may sober up by having to stop drinking for 45 mins !?

I am one who likes a pint at HT and perhaps lifting the ban may reduce the rush as people can get a drink when they want or get a couple before KO and drink the 2nd in the stands at HT.

My only issue would be getting soaked in beer.

So long as the pis... I mean drinkers are locked in a watertight box with its own bar and bogs it’s fine by me. :)

H'mmm wonder if the breweries have had owt to do with this......pubs shutting by the dozen every week...etc etc, easy way for them to get back some dosh..."I know lets get someone the in footie hierarchy to bring back drinking in the ground whilst watching the game so we can make more dosh..., nothing can go wrong....can it??"

Anyone thought that the prospect of quaffing a pint whilst watching the game would eliminate the urge to tip another one down at 2:50 and arrive 10 minutes late, therefore actually reducing the annoyance factor. Relaxed drinking and civilised behaviour, it may take a while for SYP get used to it as there would be more froth around the mouths of this lot than there is on the beer if it was ever allowed. Talking of whom, they're upping the ante already for the derby match. We're all identfiable on HD CCTV now apparently to make sure we don't escape justice for the frequent riots we participate in at Bramall Lane every game. Talk about stuck in a time warp, what a fucking shower.

No need. Watch 15 minutes, queue 15 minutes for a beer. 5 minutes back to your seat. What's the point? Just put tellys next to the bar. If you'd rather watch it there, all power to you

I was the same when a went the Real Madrid stadium a few months ago.
A bloke comes round with a beer barrel on his back, think it was 8 Euro for a pint of fizzy lager.

On a serious note, yes I can sometimes be serious, I've just been in my local Wetherspoons and was thumbing through their latest in house magazine whilst sipping my £1.99 pint of Maximus (they actually had a beer on at £1.49!) and looking at the articles of the latest new pubs Tim Martin had opened, including one at St Pancras, and I thought to myself "how long before he opens one at a footie stadium"?

If alcohol is a problem at football grounds ban it there completely. “No alcohol within sight of the pitch” is crazy.

I suppose it must be that heady combination of beer and the sight of mowed grass that concerns the authorities.

The thing that worries me, is will I be able to get to my seat, with all 8 pints still on my tray!??
I mean, it costs to much to waste!!

Sitting down section, standing section, singing section, drinking section

so, standing, with singing and drinking

standing, just singing

standing, with drinking but no singing, only moaning

the ticket office are gonna love this ....... :)
How about a section where you can watch the match?
Or is that too radical? :)

You could stick that on the back of " Programmes 3 quid " and get him to shout programmes and pints 3 quid and do a bit of economising , at the same time , eh Kev .

What about playing all home games behind closed doors ...... At Shirecliffe. Have a beam back at the lane we’d be quids in with the money we’d make from compass catering...
