Evening all,

Quick pod from myself and Blades Analytics giving some thoughts on the draw with Stoke last night, including performances vs results (02:10), asking whether United are clinical enough (12:30), what's up with Stoke (20:40), Clarke getting off the mark (26:45), and looking ahead to Wigan at the weekend (32:55).

Some great stats by Jay on the "are we clinical enough" section (12:30), definitely check that out as I was pretty surprised by some of that myself...

Cheers for listening and UTB!

This is great stuff from Beans and the fascinating James Socik Blades Analytics is right on the money dispelling the myth that we are not clinical.
We might benefit from a top drawer striker in addition to the ads we have - if we can afford an improvement on them - but we are on the money and the levels of performance we are putting in looks to be sustainable.

This will be a special season, Blades.
Really special.

Excellent ep Beans.

One very minor gripe (and not just your good self, as I’ve read this repeatedly elsewhere in the last week) is describing us as joint top. We’re 3rd. It’s a bit like saying we were relegated after finishing joint 4th bottom in our last Premier League season...

True, but unlike that example, the season's not over yet. "Level on points with first place" is what I mean, and it's not like the teams above us have games in hand or indeed an insurmountable goal difference at this stage of the season. I was, of course, trying to make the point that we're doing extremely well :)

Absolutely – don’t get me wrong, I’m delighted we’re level on points with 1st place!

Great stuff, listened this morning and found myself nodding along a lot. Can't comment on the Derby Co game too much and the comparisons from that as i had laptop issues for that one so didn't see it all. But the Stoke game i felt was a really good performance

The clinical myth is one thing but the next one is fitness and how we run out of steam, again i was in full agreement as i certainly didn't see any lack of fitness v Stoke.

Brilliant analysis !

Agreed. Though I think we’re most clinical when we’re playing our most clinical striker, which wasn’t the case Tuesday. Hopefully it will be Saturday...

Nice to hear some objective analysis and a more positive outlook (Deadbat take note - we may well finish higher than 10th, and Stoke might not win the League). The gloom after the Derby County game was put under the spotlight last night by Derby County - I reckon West Brom fans will be a bit gloomier.

On the tram back to the car on Tuesday night I invented a new word when somebody asked how I felt...

Frustrappiness!

This pod quantified my frustrappiness!

Superb :D
