I’m a blade and long time reader of many threads on this forum. I sat in the derby end near the away fans today (Saturday 20th Oct) and I got the distinct impression that we are two quite evenly matched teams. When discussing it with my pals who I sat with we all seemed to agree that neither teams on the pitch were promotion contenders (lack of cutting edge etc) but I felt that we had the edge overall.

Ultimately this comes to nothing due to the result but as I write this we’re second in the league and playing decent football with maybe a few January additions short of a real promotion contender.

One thing I will say though is that away Blades fans are quality. The derby lads I was with were commenting on the amount of police presence due to numbers attending. The game had sold out and the noise was quality to hear ... even if I did have to bite my tounge not to join in.

I think we’ll be alright in this championship

I thought overall they deserved the win, they created better chances. We just didn't turn up 2nd half.

It was weird really. After the first half of exceptional interplay, they couldn't live with us really. Just the final ball that let us down

And then we kick off the second half and from the very first kick, we looked completely off the pace. So strange. The players looked like they'd just climbed out of bed and still wearing their onesies

How we can go from one extreme to the other like that is so baffling

Exactly how I saw it not for the first time this has happened.Wilder surely not telling them to sit off ,we're a front foot team .
Could it be a fear Factor amongst the players ? .If so Wilder has a job to do.
We often go from brilliant to poor in 2ND halves a problem that's costing us.
I'm not one for being negative but I can see a problem here and obviously Wilder is finding it difficult to remedy.Hopefully he will

This does happen sometimes, but generally we are no worse in the second half of games than we are in the first.

So far this season we have scored more goals in the second half than the first half, but we have also conceded more goals in the second half than the first half.

I think your last paragraph somes it up.do we run out of energy due to our incredible work rate earlier in the game ?.
Wilder will know and perhaps trying to introduce a more cagey game into our strategy not easy when the team is built to press and play on front foot.

We were exceptionally good in the first half . Half time took away our momentum and Derby made tactical changes mainly holding the ball longer ;passing across field ;which took away our possession and the rythym we had built up.
Good job Leeds and West Brom lost other wise you'd think we were the only top club that ever loses a game

Just saw the title and thought one word wrong and you'd have been rammed:eek:

I really don't know. Possibly. But if that were the case you'd expect a gradual tailing away of our pressing game. Yesterday that isn't what happened. The change in our performance was very sudden. As soon as we equalised we seemed to become a different side.

Blades fans at derby was all you hear on tow'd valve radio...bloody magnificent..great effort...

Maybe we looked a different side because Derby upped their game and made us look poorer.
Lampard said it was easily one of their best performances of the season.
Sometimes you have to give credit the opposition.

I was concerned about the team shape when Duffy went off, we suddenly looked like the away team.
Also concerned how when we lost the ball upfield, on the break Derby looked quicker and fitter.
It could have easily ended up a 1-1 draw, some concerns but it wasn’t a bad performance.
