Fuck me they were quite, I never want to hear anyone complaining about the atmosphere at the lane, all they had was a cretin with a drum with 5 lads singing along. Our support on the other hand was fantastic, especially when the man the myth the legend Paul Coutts came on

It was bizarre.

I don't understand why so many make the effort to get to a game like that on a Wednesday night only to show no enthusiasm or desire to back the team.

Obviously not enough time to sink the required 9 pints.

But this is a non issue at the side of our home support.

Our home support could be quite a bit better at times but when you compare it to the the likes of Blackburn it barely warrants a mention. Now THATS what a crowd of corpses’ sounds like. Utterly embarrassing

Very poor from Blackburn given that they're on the up, and sad to see.

Fair play to the small group of lads giving it a go in the corner.

Same as most stadiums unfortunately (even ours), fair play to that small group of about 10 pre teens who were at least attempting, we werent great ourselves untill the goals.

Apart from opening songs like GCB, chanting will unfortunately become a thing of the past in the next few decades, eapically with clubs in the prem.

2000 corpses in the away end did very little to improve it.

Until we scored.

All credit to Blackburn for having a drum though.........

Fair play to him continuing to bang it when the Blades hijacked the chant with Coutts.

I thought the Blades were loud. In my experience it's bloody difficult to lift an atmosphere when only 2k travelling supporters are singing. Given how empty the ground was I thought the Blades made some decent noise throughout the whole game.

I got to my seat around 7:30 and it felt like a reserve game.

Fair play to the Blades and the noise we made. Naturally that's always going to increase once we scored and when the game was al but secured. (No pig style throw away here).

Well done Blades.

P.S I honestly can't recall a reception like that for a substitute before. Just wow.

11,000 Blackburn fans. Says a lot about a fan base when you slide down the leagues, them lot were packing the stadium when they had their few seasons of fame. A little adversity and they stay away unlike our core support, seen some bad times but turned up only if it was to moan and groan we still turned up.

FWIW you could hear our support pretty well on the Sky stream.

Oddly, the TV camera was from the "wrong" side of Ewood Park, but the effects miles obviously hadn't been switched round, as the Blades were to the left of my screen, but the noise they were makeing was coming through my right earphone...

I once had a pair of earphones like that.

It’s not easy to bang a drum while playing on your phone.

That is what everyone does now isn’t it? I read it on here anyway.

GLTTL.

Bang on. Considering how long we was down there for, and the failures, kicks in the teeth (play off losers and losing our to the Pigs one season), and the total dross of Clough (in the league not cup) Weir, and Adkins, the levels of support that Utd had in those 6 seasons was truly phenomenal.

United are a special club but they also enjoy the backing of a tremendously loyal set of fans. Always have done.

I will also add the noise when Coutts came on was fantastic.

When you compare the size of the two Towns/Cities it's not that bad.

We've averaged 18k before. 11k is about 7% of their population whereas 18k is about 3% of ours. Even if you double it to take in the pigs, it's still less than 7%

Even if we average 24k, that's still only 4% of 575k

Respect the maths but they saw fit to turn out in the glory days but not in the grey days.

So sad I missed Coutts come on, was hoping he'd play his first minutes on Saturday.

Tbf to Ricky's side of the argument (not his insulting tone), I went Millwall on Saturday and it is strange to see so many not join in any chant outside the GCB at 0-0.

Take off your tinted specs mate.

We averaged over 30k in the prem last time around.

The season we were relegated to L1, our biggest attendance was 23k, v Leeds. We average more than that now.

Adrian Heaths last game in charge saw less than 9k inside Bramall Lane for a 2nd tier game. Where were all our loyal supporters that season? I was there. I'll never forget that night.
