I tried to help Paddy through a national paper, this is the the reply.

Steve

Sorry mate, can't get a positive from the links you gave me, Sheffield Star and Radio Sheffield are both local tabloid and the goal keeper had his eyebrow bit off in a fight before the chest complaint. I have no where to go with this unless you can give me something to work with.

Fantastic but that would look nice in a particular broadsheet,

After a match last year (I honestly can't remember which one) we had a quick drink and then went into the blades superstore to get my eldest lad (7) some keeper gloves. We then set off home along Shoreham St and Paddy's Range Rover pulled out of the car park behind the Kop.

When he saw Paddy my lad's face was a picture (he hero worships goalkeepers - he wants to be one himself and tells everyone who will listen that he's the United and England no1 in the making ). Seeing the goal keeper gloves and/or my son's jaw on the floor Paddy stopped, wound down the window and talked to my son for a couple of minutes, joked a bit about being a keeper and signed his match day program (he couldn't sign the gloves as we got the black ones). My lad was over the moon and told everyone and anyone would listen about meeting Paddy (including random strangers on the tram home!).

I know this isn't exactly out of the ordinary (players talking to kids and signing things) and I haven't put this post here in the expectation that it's news worthy, but in that 2 minutes I learned a couple of things about Paddy: his heart is in the right place and he seemed very down to earth (a thoroughly nice guy).

I think he's made a stupid mistake (which we all do from time to time) and he's been suitably punished for it. I wish him all the best and hope he's back in the net for us next season. He's a Blades legend for me.
