I wasnt at that match in February 1974 (school) but was at the 1-0 win against the same team in March 1975. We had an indirect free kick inside the box at the Lane End. All Wolves players were on the line, the free kick was rolled to Woody who blasted it against the wall. Colquhoun was the first to receive the rebound, pushed the ball past a Wolves player who was trying to close him down, and blasted the ball into the roof of the net.

Here is how a newspaper report described Woody's goal in February 1974

GOAL - v Wolves (h) 5.2.74. Garbett's cross, intended for Salmons, was put well beyond Pierce's reach but Woodward quickly seized the ball and scored from an acute angle with a typically thunderous shot.

That’s the one... memory almost made it. Cheers......again ha .

I remember that game in 1975; I'd never seen a whole team line up on the goaline before. Two other things - Jim Brown pulled off a miracle save and knocked himself out on the post in the process. And a Wolves player was sent off, which back then meant you almost had to have committed murder on the pitch to be dismissed.

Yes, Brown made that brilliant save from a point blank header by Frank Munro. My Hibs supporting schoolmate (who stayed at my house that weekend) still remembers the save. Nigel Williams got the marching orders.

Nay lad!

West Ham. We won an all! ( Think it was 3-0 to us).

I was dead envious because I daren't wag school. I never did it once. I had to have 100% attendance record and a minimum of “good” for conduct.

I once got a “satisfactory” for conduct and me fatha blew his top at me! Threatened to stop me going t’Lane. I never misbehaved after that.
Yes. went to the West ham, Dearden hat trick. Didn't feel like we should have been at school. Fair sized crowd.
See Silent's reply #21. Wolves, and I wagged it. Took skoyal bag an ' all.

I was poor at school (basically because I'm not so bright) and had season ticket conf... coffen... confes - taken away.
Anyways, off to catch plane.

This reminds me of a conversation which I overheard which would have been totally unintelligible to people who knew nothing about Sheffield or English football.

" Why are we playing on Wednesday" ?

" Because Wednesday played on Sunday ".

Makes perfect sense to us, but imagine if you were a foreign visitor to our fair shores, you might think we are not all there.

Yes. Reminds me of a mate of mine, who came to Sheffield some years ago now, from Lancashire.
He was amazed when people in the local chip shop here were asking for "cake on a cake"! He'd no idea what they were on about.:tumbleweed:

So you don't have any mates from the dark side?
Do you have any mates at all? ;)

As with all things, mates/friends is quality over quantity. I know people who favour the pigs (I'm not going to say 'support' because - like most Wednesday fans, they rarely - if ever go.) If any of these people I know followed the standard template of the vast majority of their fans - big-gobbed, opinionated cunts who talk utter shite - I'd soon distance myself from them.

Like Leeds fans, Wendy fans are a different breed to us Blades.

Intelligence takes many forms mate.
Thaz not done bad for thi sen if tha catching planes nowadays eh? (Unless you mean paper ones?)
I've been described before (at work actually) as being "a closet intellectual". I'm still trying to work out if that's a compliment?:tumbleweed:

I have, off the top of my head, 3 mates who are pigs but would have my back in a heartbeat. The kind that would push you out of the way of a speeding car, be round like a shot if I was in crisis and are a feckin reyt laugh. Two of them are season ticket holders, the other is a fairweather pig. The banter is typical Wendy drivel but I'm intelligent enough to make them look stupid when they start. By your rationale I would cut them loose? Naaah. Quality over quantity? All three are quality
Same would have gone for my Wendy supporting Dad? Sadly no longer with us.

It was Wednesday the 27th!

The 24th was Bouncing Day.

In case you forgot here is the full reminder:

For the last 12 months you have posted the BD video at any given opportunity........ and I just can’t resist watching it again and giving you a like
:D

The goal scored by Colquhoun just after the whole Wolves team had blocked a shot by Woodward (from an indirect free kick inside the penalty box)
