I'm not sure there's a good reason why as well?

One good reason I can think of is that Wilder judged this to be a beneficial deal in the long run for the club. So as someone I wasn’t overly bothered about, that’s good enough to me. I was more bothered about Evans and was fairly non-plussed re: his exit.

I know, what a nobhead, I hope he learns only to sign good players and never sign bad ones.

We've had this conversation a while ago. Seems I was right and you was wrong. They've all been binned.

Wilder's ranking of our midfielders:

1. Fleck
2. Coutts
3. Norwood
4. Evans
5. Lundstram
6.Leonard

Evans started the season poorly, people begged for us to get rid.
Leonard started the season on the bench, we sold Evans. He was still on the bench, came on a looked lively for 15mins and people are demanding 2mill minimum (same as we payed for Norwood).

Some very poor transfer business done in January and this latest departure reinforces that fact.

Norwood is an obvious improvement but very disappointing outside of this signing.

We have failed to strengthen in some of the areas that have been lacking badly for quite some time.

Chris is going to have to perform miracles again.
What on earth are you talking about ?

Listening to football heaven and you'd think Ryan Leonard was an essential player! Suddenly's he's going to be a big loss or he was Bash's successor, when Bash is one of our better players, I can't see Leonard wanting to continue in this bench role all season, and there's no way he's better than the existing midfield either.

He'll no doubt do well for Millwall but I'm very happy with what we've got. All I would say is that he's being unfortunate to not have more match time over Evans and Lundstram who haven't been consistent but we don't see the training sessions and maybe he was unsettled which a few fans have hinted.

After Wilder had pursued him and finally signed him, I thought Leonard was going to be a really good signing and a big player for us. I thought it was odd how then he hardly played with Evans being preferred (despite Evans appearing to be a more 'off-the-cuff' signing). I'm disappointed he's not been able to get a place in our side but now we've signed Norwood, his chances were looking more and more remote.

Shame really but both ourselves and Leonard should now move on.

If we've made money on this excellent.
Rug Ron will be well and truly flecked off.
I'm pleased you will make money on this deal, but as for Ron being flecked off, I doubt it very much. Assuming the £1.25m fee is true then we are looking to trouser £125k thanks to the 10% sell on clause he had included in the contract. Get in.

10% of the uplift is the usual deal.

Things have changed with the arrival of Norwood and the return of Coutts. Some of the signings that look a bit odd now would have made much more sense IF we'd suffered more injuries to players in the past two seasons. We move on quite fast, but to the better as our squad improve step by step. The FAILED signings have moved on with moderate loss.

It’s all about wheeling and dealing at our level.
Millwall were after Leonard at the same time as us. Their finances are higher this season too.
Allowing them to bring in Leonard could well have freed up movement elsewhere that has benefitted us, and we’ve taken a chunk out of their budget. This sale may well have helped us come in for a bid for Gregory for example?
Plus it keeps budget available while Wilder plots the January window. If we are up there in January I could see him coming in with a real deal striker in the manner Fulham did with Mitrovich.
We shall see.

Did Wilder plan for Leonard - who would have been a great player as we started the Season last year - for fighting off relegation and keeping our Championship status? Because that's how I thought the season would pan out.

What blows my mind is reading stuff like "Roy's View From..." and how the Villa fan's are a little worried about today - we are sending ripples through the Championship (well some of the fans anyway). We are respected and feared.

I think we have improved beyond my 'wilderest' dreams - and maybe Leonard was left behind due to our rapid progression - if Wilder got it wrong, I think it was in the expectation of where we would be after one seaon, not that Leonard was a bad player. We just got a little too good for him.

I think he was a ‘do a job’ type player but was so technically limited he would never be more for us - that said he could fit into Millwall’s style very well. Didn’t help that he was a bit of a rabbit in the headlights whenever he came on too. GLTTL

You argued that Warnock had a better record than Wilder actually.

Whoopsie.

Reasonable to do so because Warnock had the triple assault season then promotion to the prem. Anyway you argued that all Wilder's signings were a "gamble" and therefore could be forgiven when they all tanked. Silly boy.

How do you figure? Warnock had 2 good seasons, so naturally his transfer record was better? Strange logic.

And that wasn't what I argued either, perhaps you should re-read it? I argued that Wilder had a better hit/miss record with transfers than Warnock and that Warnock (05/06) had a better budget than Wilder (17/18) relative to the rest of the division. (Both of which are true)

Silly boy

I wonder why you resort to throwing around insults rather than having a reasonable discussion with me or simply ignorong me?

That comment was a little dig at your recollections as an 8 year old of Warnock's tenure. Don't be such a snowflake.

Don't you think it's a little embarrassing that despite the fact I was 8 at the time, I still have a better memory of Warnock's transfer dealings than you?

I'm not being a snowflake either - I took no offence. I was just pointing out your readiness to abandon debating the point and resort to name calling. (Evidenced by the fact that you're no longer willing to discuss any of the points I made and seemingly replied just to call me snowflake)

No criticism intended by the way, I just thought you may be pleased/disinterested/disgusted (delete as appropriate) to see how he was getting on.
