I don't know why I didn't think of this earlier. It's just hit me what he's trying to do. He's trying to make deals with the two Sheffield universities rather than introduce a discount student price for NUS members (which is what every other football club does).
The only reason he would do this is so that he can sell more seats in the home end, without offering a similar discount to any away fans who also happen to be a student. Very very naughty.
My understanding of the rules on ticket pricing is that away fans have to be given similar discounts to home fans. Hence if you look at away matches on our site they will usually give you the full price, a disabled price, an OAP price and often a student price. Take, for instance, the Swansea game:
"Tickets are priced £25 Adults, £10 Under 16s, £15 Students with a valid NUS card, and £13 OAPs." -

Of course, Swansea aren't interested in giving our fans a discount, they'd ideally like to milk us for every penny they can (as I'm sure we would to away fans). But they are playing by the rules, the prices are the same as they are for similar home seats. See here:

The same goes for the reverse of course, when we have student deals on we have to offer the same price to visiting students/oaps/whatever.
Strapon is trying to bypass those rules by only offering the deal to Sheffield based students sitting in the home end of the stadium. Bad strapon, very very bad strapon.
Of course, he's now made the deal public. If a student at another University were to attempt to purchase a ticket for the next game in the away end and be rufused the same deal he/she could report the club to the football league. If the league ruled that away fans have to receive the same offers as home fans (which I believe they do) then strapon may find a rather large hole in his bank balance from the drop in ticket prices he'd have to offer visiting student supporters for EVERY game for the rest of the season (except us).
So who's a student on here and fancies visiting the sty?
