Wasn't going to start a new thread but couldn't see a similar one, so aplogies if there was something similar.

Lets be honest, we all wanted a marquee signing up top like we have managed with Egan in defence and Norwood in midfield. Instead we've got two plastic Irishmen on free transfers for one year deals. However, we all know we cannot get a Tammy Abraham, or a Sam Gallagher, the latter wasn't that good anyway, based on last season. I was one of those that thought Marriot would be the best we could get. Young, pacy and one to develop. But I think Wilder has been badly burnt from the last window and also Lundstram hasn't developed fast enough yet either.

If we'd signed Washington from Peterborough we'd all thought that was a cracking signing. Two and a half seasons on and he's still only 26 and the one thing you know about Wilder is that he has the ability to get the best out of players - in most cases. As the QPR fan said, he's got the best out of Leon, who know what Washington can do, but I always liked Leon anyway.

If we're there or there abouts in January then I expect we might push the boat out and try and sign someone more proven for the second half of the season. My main concerns now are that Leon is our only taller forward capable of playing the target man role as well as being able to score a variety of goals - he's not limited like many target men are and yes I know Leon isn't an out and out target man like Neil Shipperley, but he causes problems for defenders, holds it up and is good in the air.If Leon is injured or goes off form, like the first two games, we have no one like him and that concerns me.

My other concern is that we're going to be over reliant on Duffy too, since Woodburn is clearly not as consistent as Duffy and thus far Woodburn looks a bit off the pace, but hopefully that will change.

Overall though a decent window and probably the best we could hope for although I still wanted Maddison to rival Duffy, as opposed to a loan. Washington is probably similar quality and style to Marriot and I think he'll do well.

Great that we got Johnson late on. Teams who do well have creativity off the bench to change things and he'll do that and who knows could be a starter.

I agree with Wilder that we're stronger now than last season (think he said that) but I think we need Woodburn to improve as the umber 10 role is vital in the current system and Brooks off the bench was some weapon last season.I know he would have started this season.

Best signing Norwood - obviously.

I should state that I thought the last transfer window was the best we'd had in a while and look how that turned out!

Good summary - I was hoping for Fletcher from what I have seen but these 2 will give us options that we wouldnt have had and Johnson will be competition for Enda as well as well as giving support in attack if needed

Overall you have to trust Wilder and there’s been good and bad.
Defensively we are sound with adequate cover all round and with Coutts return we are looking superb with Norwood in there. Would have preferred to keep Leonard but it’s not the end of the world.
The one disappointment is up front. Wilder has stated all summer he wanted a proven championship striker and it just hasn’t come off, be that down to finances or putting all his eggs in 1 basket. Nowt against Washington, he could be an astute signing but he isn’t a proven scorer at this level. Overall happy but a little disappointed today.

Overall I think it’s been more than decent - it’s almost like wilder knows what he’s doing lol.

Norwood looks to be a stand out bargain and the type of influence we have missed since we were top of the league with Coutts. Payed for with the sale of Evans and Leonard represents a very shrewd move

Hendo is a top signing and is at least as good as Blackman would have been. With a ridiculous upside potential for us.

Egan hopefully will make us more solid and add a goal threat at set plays. Not looked a 4m player yet but is improving game by game.

Johnson adds some directness and pace we have been missing and some much needed competition.

Washington is a low risk gamble and provides us with some pace.

Woodburn is raw but I’m sure he will continue to develop for us and play a role.

Bryan is a no risk gamble - though to be fair we’ve not see hide nor hair of him so far.

Mcgoldrick (if he stays fit) is probably an upgrade on Wilson / Donaldson

We’ve kept our best 2 places in JOC and Fleck too which shouldn’t be under estimated

But and it’s a fairly big one it would have been lovely to sign a top top centre forward to really help to push us to the next level and spend that remaining budget...

Tufty’s had to wheel and deal and I’m a bit concerned that we’ve lost Lenny, but with Hendo, Egan, Norwood, and now Johnson onboard along with the other signings I think we’ve done ok TBH and I’m glad we didn’t sign Hogan. I’d soon have Washington who has something to prove.

I think it’s obvious he’s not been given a big chunk of the Brooks money on top of the original transfer pot that some thought he might get, but we’ve had a good clear out and only time will tell if the likes of Washington, Woodburn and McGoldrick will hit it off and seriously contribute to our goals tally. I suspect we could be pleasantly surprised.

Wtf is Roygbiv with our view from, said he had it ready to post. Bet he's out enjoying himself again. I've got him down as one of these that goes naked int woods tonight and dresses in leaves and twigs to see out the meteorological summer and dances round chanting and splashing IPS to welcome the Winter.

I wanted Fletcher too. I think there's a real player in there. If Boro don't use him between now and January I can see him going somewhere but if we're up there with Boro (lets hope) I can't see them doing us any favours!

We only lost one good player, and even he wasn't starting every week, Norwood looks great and we shifted a load of garbage.

On the flip side we're still very light upfront and I do think we had the money to do better than we did in that area. I also don't think the lads we've signed today will prove to be all that but I've been wrong before.

This was more of a course correction from a very poor January rather than a leap forward but it's steady progress none the less.

Bit disappointed to be honest with deadline incomings , without knowing what the situation is with the coffers was hoping for better , Washington hasn’t done much at Championship level and we’ve needed some competition up top since Christmas .
In midfield i think we’re a bit light on depth & quality if Norwood gets injured there’s gonna be a lot hinging on Coutts coming back from his injury to the player he was & if not I don’t think the back up - Basham , Lundstram etc are anywhere near the same quality & Woodburn & Johnson unknown quantities too
Well we’ve got what we’ve got & let’s get behind the lads & see where it gets us

Our midfield is lacking quality ? Really ? Depth I get, we are a little light now in terms of numbers, but our starting midfield right now is as good as it's been for at least a decade and maybe more ( I'm of the opinion it's at least as good as any other I've seen at the Lane )

For me this window is definitely B+ . Wilders strengthened the spine of the team with Hendo, Egan and Norwood . With a proven marksman I'd have rated this window A* . Sadly we've missed out there but Washington is a definite improvement up front overall .

With Woodburn, Johnson and Bryan all waiting in the wings to show what they can do ( and I sincerely believe 2 of those will impress ) I'm quite happy .

With funds still available for the JTW, Coutts on his way back and the way we're starting to play, the futures exciting !

Amazed that we didn't get a half decent striker in, some good signings but the lack of power up front is going to be costly I fear. QPR rock bottom of the league in a dire situation bring in Hemed & Wells from the premiership and we get QPR's cast off that averaged a goal every 9 games for them. We clearly aren't serious about a promotion push with that intent.

Our 4 strikers are Sharp Clarke Mcgoldrick and Washington

Are McGoldrick and Washington better than Evans and Donaldson? if the you think answer is yes, we’ve improved the forward options.

I think now, we can put any of that lot out and I won't think "shit" like I did at certain points last season, when we were playing a short bloke with an ankle injury as a lone frontman against Norwich for example.

I'll give it a C+ Hendo is OK but only here on loan we will be looking again for a keeper next season. Egan is ok much like Stearman. For me the best signing is Norwood he looks a real good player. Well thats the positives out of the way, up front we bring in Conor Washington who had a fairly good spell at Peterborough but has never done it at this level. Is he really a better option than Ched Evans ? Marvin Johnson no one seems to know his best position another one who has done zip at this level. Bryan he is one to develop.
Defence improved in terms of numbers not sure on the quality. Midfield down on numbers with Leonard going but a big improvement in quality. Up front we have just changed faces what we have are a year older and what we have brought in are no better than what we had just cheaper this area of recruitment is a massive let down which if not addressed in January will blight our season.

Woodburn could turn out to be the best signing of the lot. He’s only a teenager, of course he will take time to find his feet in the Championship, he’s only played at elite level before coming here, with much better players than we have, it’s a very different environment. Despite what some of the “experts” on here think he’s the most exciting signing of the lot for me, just needs time & patience. Overall, a good window.

Hemed definitely is one I think would have been a good addition and given Leon a run for his money. I'm surprised a few more teams haven't gone for him to be honest at the top end, he's always dine well for Brighton.

Those of our fan base that slag off Leon I think don't realise just how important the role Leon does for us. That's why Wilder doesn't sub him much because we have no other player to provide that presence. I'm quite surprised Wilder didn't get someone pf a similar type but maybe he thought McGoldrick could do a similar job or that we can still cause many problems without needing someone of Clarke's strength.

Mods. Someone's hacked CHL's account......

Henderson on a loan makes sense. We could buy someone nowhere near as good as he seems to be and be stuck with a player on a three or four year contract.

Fresh start for Leonard at Millwall and GLTTL.

If he does well down there, he'll reach the heights that Squinny did here.

After he left.

Overall I am happy with it. Losing Brooks at first and now Leonard were downers but on balance we have more than made up for it.

Getting Norwood was an absolute coup, whilst Egan and McGoldrick also bring proven Championship experience. We have a gem of a keeper in Henderson with Washington, Woodburn and Johnson all having a point to prove for differing reasons. I also reckon Bryan could be a decent squad player providing valuable cover.

Then, of course we have the Roller going through its service, before an imminent return.

We also need to consider who we managed to keep, as in Fleck and JOC. Two players who would each have cost millions to replace. When CW said the 'shutters were down' on those two, he wasn't joking.

So we didn't get the 'wow' signing up front but that was always likely with our finances. No point worrying about that anymore, we go with a very decent squad and I think we will do rather well.

Washington may not have been prolific recently mate but by all accounts QPR never set up in a way that suited him. He is strong and has pace so I expect he will be running the channels and holding the ball up a lot, with our wing backs pushing up beyond him before he makes runs into the box. He isn't the marquee signing we all wanted but I think he might surprise a few.

Not delivered on the 'proven' Championship striker sought.

How realistic or truthful our pursuit of some of those supposed types was, who knows.

We just have to hope Washington can up his game and do what he hasn't before, deliver at this level.

Henderson and Norwood, top drawer acquisitions. I'm interested to see what Johnson gives us too
