You make a very good point.
I must have missed it when Lavery scored 15 goals in 16 matches.

His scoring record is deceptive. QPR played him on the wing where Darragh McAnthony commented he was wasted having scored 34 in 90-odd at Peterborough.

Could be a very clever one, this.

Happier than spending 35k per week on someone with a 30% chance of being unavailable.

People keep saying he's pacy, many people saying he has no pace?

What's the fucking answer lads?

Only a one year contract?!. I hope we have an option or else if he does well, he'll probably leave on a free.

I'd put money on an extension as a given, but as with wages it's not something the club feel they need to broadcast.

If I recall the same was asked when we signed McG, so it's part and parcel of a player signing to the club.

In my opinion he's an improvement on Ched, Lavery, Hanson, Donaldson and Wilson, so I'm happy. Similar type player to Waghorn, hard-working and direct. Our squad is gradually improving without stupid wages and fees being paid.
If he scores 16 goals this season Derby will buy him for 8M next

Decent signing for me...I think his time at QPR was a bit stop start, often off the bench and when he did start often subbed off,or not even making the bench...decent at Posh though...good age, could be a better signing than Waghorn would have been.

He also knows Norwood from Northern Ireland, so hopefully that will help him settle in and get him amongst the goals soon.

I was expecting pictures of signs

Bloody hell, it's a full time job keeping everyone happy on here.....

Having seen him a couple of times I wouldn’t necessarily say he’s got loads of pace. He’s got a good first touch and is extremely strong. Built like a tank and hard to knock of the ball. I like him. It’s a shrewd capture.

Good signing for me, decent age, has ability, think he has been held back at a club in turmoil, point to prove at this level, think we may well just give him that platform

He’s not good enough ..... no better than we already have.. and will start on the bench on Saturday.. says it all..

I forgot ‘International player’ I wonder if Norwood has had any input into this...

...because let’s be honest I’d trust and do just about anything he says. A.N.Y.T.H.I.N.G.
Not sure without looking if they’ve played together for NI much anyone know?

Well well. Who's going to make way then? Billy, who's on form and scoring, or the undroppable one?

Puleeze don't give me the "signed as back up" line.

Interesting that it is only a one year contract, because if he is a success we will lose him or have to break the wage structure.

Hopefully we have an extension clause.

At least we still have one loan space to fill in the next 5 hours.

Why only a one year contract? That's irritating. Should be 2 years with an optional 3rd.

He may have taken a financial step backwards to get playing and scoring again. His agent may have a view to the JTW if he bangs a few in before then and may not have wanted to commit to anything longer.

We just don't know whether:
1/ CW really wanted him or just can't get his preferred picks
2/ Connor and his agent want to get in the shop window.

Let's just sit back and enjoy the ride, before sticking the boot in on the club again.

Inexpensive signing
Contract cancelled by QPR's cash strapped owners, must rate him
No transport costs, their fans have offered to drive him up here
£12m in back pocket
No ambishun spent
Hope a surprise is in the wings!

Agenda post, no tin hat bring it on

The positive to the one year contract is it could be seen as last chance saloon for him and get better performances out of him this season.

We'd take that, but then the problem would be getting him tied down to a longer one - with an inevitable wage increase.

My main concerns:

1. I’m not buying his shirt. Far too expensive!
2. No visible tattoos. How has he managed to get to 26 as a modern pro footballer without any?
3. I really hope the people at Newsnow put the hours in or we’ll get the US political scene for the duration of his contract. On the upside our fanbase in the US may get an accidental uptick!
