It has to be mutual, so if the player is happy sitting on his arse and picking up a wage he can. But if the player wants to play and can sort an alternative they can look to work something out. The chances are he won't feature for QPR with Wells and Hemed in on loan, and given the financial restrictions they are under rather than keep paying him they can agree to cut ties.

For a player to be able to play before January they have to be released before the window closes. So basically they have to be a free agent before the window closes, i.e today. If QPR release him on Tuesday next week he can't join another club until January. As he has been released today in theory he can now sign for anyone at anytime.

Our boards ambition is 2x out of contract strikers......

Their out of contract for a reason.

Potential my arse, you say that to the younger 20 years old.

So.

- We’re struggling to get the costly championship proven forwards we’re after...
- We 100% need a body either way.
- Player (with decent potential) becomes available on a free (a fucking free).
- We sign player.
- We still have money (for today/ more likely Jan) to spend should targets become available.

= Meltdown.

To be fair, I've not seen any meltdown as yet (though my search has not been exhaustive), but I'm surprised at the amount of "meh" at what seems like a bloody steal! Sure, his record of 14 in 98 isn't great at QPR, but if it was 40 in 98 he'd be retailing at £5m+.

I like the fact that this is a lad who wants to play and is prepared to go out and potentially lose money to do it. Good on him, well done SUFC now he's signed for us!

I remember him signing for QPR and being envious that they were in a position to spend £3m on a very promising league one player. His career has faltered, but i think those on here who are underwhelmed by this signing will be pleasantly surprised,i think this is a very good signing and what really pleases me is so does Chris Wilder.

I forgot ‘International player’ I wonder if Norwood has had any input into this...

...because let’s be honest I’d trust and do just about anything he says. A.N.Y.T.H.I.N.G.

  • Hungry, point to prove.
  • Previously prolific, no reason to suspect he can't be again.
  • Pacy, what we need.
  • Poacher, perfect for how we play.
  • An example of biding our time, watching his contract and waiting til they had two new ones in (Wells and Hemed) meaning we get our man for free after his contract is terminated.
Shrewd, shrewd business by Tufteh. Potentially prolific striker for no fee.

Seem to have forgotten the 4 million centreback and one of the best midfielders I’ve seen.

I meant there is the potential that he could be good for us...

looking at the timeline of this transfer this morning of when his contract was terminated & all the media internet reveal stuff. it looks like his contract was terminated while Washington was at bramall lane

Only a one year contract?!. I hope we have an option or else if he does well, he'll probably leave on a free.

£4m centre back, really? (£1.25m), and agree with Norwood, he looks very good.

But come on....with Norwood and Coutts, we only need a center forward with pace to open up the defence through the middle, rather than going down the left and right wings a hundred times before crossing it
