Could I just point out that just because the kid hasn’t done too well at QPR, it doesn’t always mean that he’ll not be a success at another club under a different manager and set up, and rediscover his Peterborough form. I really rated him when he was there and we shouldn’t assume it’s all down to the step up in class. You see it all the happen all the time with players just not settling or hitting it off at a particular club, even paying big bucks for a goal scorer doesn’t always guarantee goals, ask the Pork about that.

We’ve paid high fees or wages in the past for players and ended up with total crap, and we’ve also got good ones in on the cheap. It’ll be up to Wilder and Knill to get the best out of Washington if he comes so why don’t we (we’ll some of us) just see how this rolls on the pitch where it matters before spitting our dummies out?

Worse goal per game ratio than the Pigs’ battering ram Nuhiu. How can this be spun as a good signing?

You can’t spin it being a good or bad signing (there is a massive difference between being excited about a signing and it being a good signing). Understand people being underwhelmed if this is the only signing we make but only games and time will show if it’s a good or bad signing... what people are saying is give it a chance then make your mind up.

If we are essentially getting him for free then I think thats a reasonable gamble for a 26 year old that can still improve. I'd not judge him by what he has or hasn't done for QPR especially with the way they have been managed as a club.

High on the Meh scale but we need another striker and hopefully he can pleasantly surprise based on his previous record at this level.

Would be a great signing for just wages.

What stops a club terminating a contract at any time so a player can move? Looks like a bit of a loop hole to me.

Hope he works out as well as Fleck and Duffy, with the wilder magic.

What is key is what is his finishing ratio from chances not games played, as we have been very wasteful since Chistmas.
We terminated Brayford’s contract exactly 1 year ago to the day in order to facilitate his move to Burton.

I’ve follows Connor since his days at VERY non-league St Ives Town in Cambridgeshire (I had a mate play for them too). He was setting that league on fire which is why P’boro picked him up and where he continued to do very well. Hes not done great at QPR but I have no doubts in his talent and danger in front of goal - it seems a cliche nowadays but under Wilder’s leadership his confidence will soar and you’ll see Connor grabbing 10-15 goals with us this season if he comes.

Underwhelmed overall, but on a free it's risk free I suppose.

If we sign another more proven striker I'll eat my hat and send a letter to the club apologising.

It has to be mutual, so if the player is happy sitting on his arse and picking up a wage he can. But if the player wants to play and can sort an alternative they can look to work something out. The chances are he won't feature for QPR with Wells and Hemed in on loan, and given the financial restrictions they are under rather than keep paying him they can agree to cut ties.

Can't see why some of our fans have a problem here - Washington was ok at Peterboro - deserved a move somewhere on the back of that (it's what p'boro do aka: Maddison) but picked a club that has had daft and stupid managers, brought in by daft and stupid (but rich) owners and paying silly money for anything with legs. (edit: reminds me of somewhere on the outskirts of Sheffield)

Can anyone name me players at QPR within the past few years that has actually done well for them? They will no doubt have some players who are way better than their last few years have shown and need to prove themselves.

The lad has probably had a torrid time with a club on a slide that hasn't yet reached the bottom, and he has the correct stage at BDTBL to prove to numerous doubters that he's got what it takes.

Looking forward to seeing this lad play and it's another progressive signing considering the financial position that we are still in. We still do not have barrels of money.

My friend is a personal trainer, she trains his wife. I have had a word and sold the Blades to him via his good lady.

Cheap (relatively speaking). Potential upside. Probably not going to fire us to promotion but scored as many as Gallagher did last season in about as many games..

Ticks all the deadline day boxes I suppose.

Washington will probably be on decent money having been signed for £3m, so as he has a contract lined up with us, he has probably walked away with no payout from QPR.

QPR get him off the wage bill now, we give any transfer fee we were prepared to pay to Washington as a signing on fee (maybe £200k max) and everyone is happy!

So.

- We’re struggling to get the costly championship proven forwards we’re after...
- We 100% need a body either way.
- Player (with decent potential) becomes available on a free (a fucking free).
- We sign player.
- We still have money (for today/ more likely Jan) to spend should targets become available.

= Meltdown.

Were they really Pinchy, can you provide me some proof of that please?

I did. Over on Bladesmad though. Thought he was a cracking player at Posh and genuinely thought he was a steal at £3 million at the time. It's not worked out at QPR for whatever reason. Hoping he can live up to his early promise, but as he's seemingly now on a free, it's a no-brainer for me.
