Well looks like we are finding a nice rythym , and going from a walk to a trot
Freeman pitching in with goals , Duffy and Fleck in tandem
Norwood , excellent investment , looking like Wilder has improved us from last season

The way we attacked from the off and dominated will frighten a few clubs
we are contenders now, on that display
onwards and upwards

Long may the good performances continue, if we are in the mix in January we are contenders. Bolton would say they are contenders based on league position but they are shite cloggers.

Contenders for what ? Top 6 ? Lets not be going down that route yet and keep some perspective. 3 good results against teams in the mid to lower end of the league. Beating the teams we need to beat is key, so I am very happy tonight !

Edit: just hearing pigs saying their young centre half is the best in the league. You know, let’s not be like them.

As good as we looked today, Bolton we're truely pathetic. So we can't get too ahead of ourselves. They are relegation candidates all day long.
You can only play what is put in front of you though.

I know it's symptomatic of football fans the world over, and I can sometimes fall into it myself, but I'm not sure why some were so doom and gloom after losing to two teams who will no doubt be top end (despite some concerning elements to our performances), and I'm not sure why after beating 3 lower end teams imho that we're now contenders (despite some pleasing improvements and Norwood joining).

All for keeping the balance (most of the time).

There aren't just two buttons available, despair and ahead of one's self.

A Sheffield double.

And to cap it all, old Elbows was spotted at Hillsborough. :)

Yes but good teams normally hammer shit teams, so we have nothing to be negative about in that respect. Villa will be a much stiffer test, everyone realises that.

Agreed for the most part but that was an outstanding performance today. We’ve beaten Bolton before in recent years but never as comprehensively as that. We played some really good stuff today. Room for celebration and optimism, I think, without claiming the league title.

we're doing great considering we were getting relegated according to some on here after the boro game.

We now have a totally DIFFERENT midfield to the first 2 games - remember that CW changed it - just like he changed it when we were bottom of L1.

Midfield wins games of football - and there is still Coutts to bring in

Largely true but the first five games can 'set the tone'. QPR finally scraped a win today, but won't be near the top six this season - those twelve dropped points will take some making up.

Yes I know what you mean. Whether the managers in question can alter that tone and alter the course of the season, and therefore the league table, remains to be seen! With Wilder I genuinely think he is able to do that. He sees early on (in the season) what needs tinkering with and just makes the changes, nothing drastic like....gives me confidence like no other manager I’ve seen before him!

Didn't we drop 12 points at the start of last season and still were in it pretty much to the end even though we lost Coutts and Freeman for lengthy spells?
Since then we HAVE got a better squad, hopefully one or 2 more to come in AND Coutts still to come back.
We definitely faded towards the end of last season but still (sort of) nearly made it.
This year one or 2 dropping out shouldn't have such a debilitating effect on performance :)

We're exactly where we were last season - 9 points out of the first five games.

I think we're a top end striker away from being automatic candidates.I'd probably say we can sustain a play off push as long as we are lucky with injuries. The roller is getting ready to come out of the garage, yet, thankfully, we don't have to rush him back. We're out of the League cup so we don't have the additional games to worry about.Swansea at home and Boro away are ticked of which are both difficult ties - whenever they are played. All positives in my opinion.

I'm all for optimism but we were getting relegated a few weeks ago and now we're nearly good enough for top two. Can we see how the next few months pan out and see if we can put some performances in against decent teams before the proclamations are made?!

We've played 2 of the stronger teams in the league and lost, 3 of the weaker/middling teams and won. Says to me that we should expect mid table with a play off push if we strengthen. HMS Piss the League sets sail from S6 not S2 and I'd like to keep it that way.

You can only beat what’s in front of you and we frankly hammered them. How many times historically have we dragged ourselves down to the level of poor teams when we played them?
