i ask this as I had someone sitting next to me yesterday who wanted to talk, ALL GAME. In the end I had to be rude and just ignore him. I don't want to chat, I may have the occasional expletive outburst, or say to our Jack who was that who made that pass. (The old eyesight isn't what it was.) I just want to sit and watch the game. The time for chatting is pre or post match!

If I'm alone, then no. If something truly remarkable happens, I'm happy to take a brief exchange of "that was never a sending off" or maybe explain to someone what happened while they were at the bar, but then back to watching the game.

I tend to chat more at away games because the company I keep there likes to break things down as they happen. At home games I'm usually with my dad and we tend to just watch and share the odd comment.

Before, after and at half time I’m all for it. During the game the odd comments on certain incidents (e.g. yesterday’s blatant offside). Other than that no. Based on this the Mrs very quickly learnt the offside rule.:)

About the game yes, I feel like I need to vocalise tho be when I'm frustrated. And sometimes somebody responds and things make more sense to me.

Non game? Nope, nil, nada

It was all about the game, but mostly rubbish :) His favourite expression Gerrit darn, which I might say when players are having a game of head tennis, but which I eventually realised he meant, play it forward. Boring after the twentieth time.

I try to avoid talking constantly. Usually just when something good or bad happens. And I talk to people im with

Saying that, maybe everyone who sits near me hates me :D

About football I suppose it's ok.
But non football related conversations, I would wonder why the person was in a football stadium

Just on the other hand, I totally understand what your saying, but remember this, that guy may not have a family round him, he may exist day to day, alone.
He might only get human contact/conversation when he goes to the shops or the game??
Just spare a thought, that, that could be you in a few years, or that could be your dad??

Love a good chat about the game. I'm usually at the game on my own as I don't have many friends, so I'm all ears for a chat about the game.

Depends what the nice little chat is about, if it's about the price of milk, their new trainers they have just bought or brexit then no, if its about new players, the game etc yes, mind you have you seen the price of milk since the heatwave? Discuss.

The bloke behind feels the need to commentate and tell the players what to do every time they get the ball, I wish he would chat about something else!

You can't throw mustard about at half time, you can't set smoke bombs off in the stand, you can't drink in your seat, you can't sit down all game without upsetting folk, you can't stand up all game without upsetting folk, you can't bring domesticated animals to the match, and the cue de fucking gras.....you can't chat to the bloke next to you about non match stuff.

I thought that might be me but you’re too old for the bloke and two kids in front of me. Phew!

Ahhh,so it's you and your mates breaking things down who are responsible for breaking up the Air conditioning units.

I just sit there, arms crossed and occasionally shout...

SIDDARN!

...although far more frequently that I'd like.

I don’t talk much during the game apart from giving the lads some vocal encouragement. As I’m walking back to the station, I occasionally chat to fellow blades about all things blades related. I had a good chat with a West Yorkshire blade yesterday who invited me for a drink in the tap but I needed food and my train was due so had to decline the offer!. UTB

Nope, often mutter something under my breath but my comments are not normally directed at anyone.

It does seem to be a national obsession talking at football matches, gigs, cricket matches etc. Wish people would just stay in the pub.....

Now don't make me feel guilty! You could be right, but I can see you are assuming this was a poor little old man who lived on his own. It could still be true, but he was about 20. I will be nicer next time :)

If you'd be been nice, he might've shared his halftime spliff with you, so you missed out!:p
Lydon would've stroked your leg and given it a squeeze ;), think yourself lucky!!
