Last year we started with two defeats and a win against Brentford and two defeats to Middlesbrough and Cardiff. We did then go on to win the next four against Barnsley, Derby, Sunderland and Bolton to be played 7 won 5 lost 2.

All the doom mongers need to just look back a year. Now we have Norwood, Woodburn, Coutts coming back and a great striker on the way. Onwards and upwards we go, play offs should be our minimum target, get real Blades.

Who is this great striker ?

Is it better for those who don't have time to read everything on here to just not say anything? Or should they leave the site altogether? Just wondering what the rules are.

If you don't come on very much, then maybe have the decency to check a few threads first to see if there's something appropriate to respond to?

Starting new threads on stuff already done to death, tends to slightly piss off us unimaginative types who spend their lives on here.

There are of course 'no rules', so please feel free to show no respect at all to others and just post away as you feel fit. Don't be surprised with the odd narky riposte though.

It's not the same start as last season anyway as we won our League Cup first round tie last year

Ooops I should have read all the threads around before posting. I'll get my coat sorry to all. Next time i'm going to read at least 2000 threads before I post.

Don't take any of the above to heart mate. You're as welcome and as entitled to post on whatever topic you wish.

Just realise that some of the posters on here feel they have a greater sense of entitlement than any newbie who appears out of the blue. Once you've accepted that you'll be at home on here.

I would normally do that, but sometimes a thread which starts on the topic you want to read about often descends into rubbish like fish jokes or personal digs at each other (like this one probably will), so sometimes people can't be bothered to read through 20+ pages of bullshit from the same handful of people who spend a lot of time on here.

Personally I'd rather read something from someone who doesn't post as often so I don't mind new threads. You can always choose to ignore them anyway, having read the title.

Why do people who don't read the forum feel the urge to post, is it because only their opinion counts?

I'm a Blade like you and optimistic so I posted on this forum. I do read the threads as I don't live in Sheffield and travel quite a way to see my beloved team when they play at BDTBL. I don't read every thread on here but does that mean I can't start a thread ever. Do I need to get the permission of someone who has been here longer than me. I have been going to the Lane for 50 years and welcome all new fans as it adds to my experience.

Anyway, going back to the topic, the vast majority of football supporters will ALWAYS overreact at the beginning of a season, whether it's to one extreme (relegation) or another (we're gonna piss the league).

I would always personally wait until 10 games in. If us lot on here can see problems within 2/3 games, then so can a decent manager like Chris Wilder. If, after 10 games the manager hasn't seen these recurring problems and address them, that's when it changes.

10 games is a rough guide. For me it allows enough games for problems to be identified, addressed and then evaluated.

This is why I've been reading this forum for god knows how many years, but never really posted until now. I've only started posting now as I like going to the 5-a-side on a Sunday and have met some decent people from here.

No problem.

When you do post, please feel free to use text-ese, misuse apostrophes and mix up their/they're and your/you're in an inconsistent manner.

It is the least you can do to show due respect to the navel gazing dullards on here, of which I'm proud to consdier myself one.

At least the OP had the good sense to give a very good indication of his content with the thread title. Unlike many others who try to trick us and pass it off as comedy ?

Thinking about Norwood, Fleck and Coutts I'm reminded of three midfielders who got us up last time as they new how to protect the ball and keep it so the opposition did the running. If these three do as well as Tonge, Brown and McCall then we will be ok this year. Not sure they will score as many goals as those three though, particularly Brown.

Calm down calm down, welcome but don't be too touchy, it will work against you, I would have given you a like but the fuckin button don't work anymore

We now have a bigger and better squad. We are a LWB short and a striker short. Get these and we are good to go.

I agrewe but I'd have liked another attacking mid as Duffy isn't going to be playing every week and we're reliant on a very young and in experienced Ben Woodburn to fill the Brooks shoes - tall order. I wouldn't be surprised to see us seldom go with the attacking mid option if Coutts comes back strong and we'll go with a flat three of Coutts, Fleck and Norwood although obviously that doesn't mean they'll all literally be in a line. The Fleck, Coutts and Duffy combo worked so well last season and if we went with Fleck, Coutts and Basham Brooks did all the running up top.

We need someone up top who is going to do all the running and do the unpredictable at times. Its been like a slow game of chess at times when we have possession.

Agreed but it's likely to be a big presence guy to rival Leon and it is less likely to be a faster, unpredictable type like Kabba.

Need a Kabba, not sure he knew what he was about to do. The ball bobbled around him and he smacked it or got a toe in somewhere and the ball rolled across the line. Chased every ridiculous lost cause and got his goals. Had a real hunger to score and be a pain in the neck for defenders. Can't think of too many players like that

Aah the old 'exagerate the point to make it absurd' riposte, we were only talking about this the other day.
Everybody is entitled to post (otherwise it wouldn't be an open forum) but going over the same ground is tedious. I'm sure one of the admins will point you in the direction of forum rules.

And you have to spell at least one of our players name wrong.
Optional which one, it's unfortunate that you've just missed Brooks ;)

Oh dear, rules are rules.

Tedious for who? If we are talking about tedious I think you need to take a look in the mirror. I refuse to be bored to death by you. I think you need to check the rule book again. Some posters on here chatting about football and you keep boring us with the rules!
