Squad Harmony/Wage Structure

If we don’t start increasing the wage structure we won’t get better players in. It’s as simple as that.

Teams that don’t improve only go one way.

Exactly, wages will only ever go up, if we can't compete with the top club in the Championship then we never will be able to. We have to push the boat out. Being strict with our wage structure will eventually relegate us.

Do people actually know what the wage structure is or are they just making assumptions about ‘Wilder having a socialist wage structure where everyone earns roughly the same’ because I keep reading this?

I suspect it’s a load of old bollocks and that our structure is no different to other clubs; the key players earn the most, then the regular first teamers, then the squad players.

And we can’t sign players on significantly more than the top earners for two reasons;
1. It pisses off the key players. This is exactly what happened with Warnock at QPR, when he signed players based on a low budget, the club got taken over, the budget was raised and he signed players on big wages. Complete disharmony.

2. The key players expect a better contract. Why wouldn’t they? Ever been in a situation where you find out some twat who does the same job as you gets paid significantly more? I have. I didn’t fucking like it. It was the beginning of the end.

You can argue against it as much as you like but if you listen to any manager talking about wages and wage structures they’ll say exactly what I have, (apart from Wenger who did overpay squad players). Writing words on the internet that sound good doesn’t alter that.

For Christ’s sake...this old chestnut again!!
Are you a friggin goldfish? Has this not been done to death already?

We are after those players and making audacious bids to have a subsidised wage by their parent clubs.
If you don’t ask you don’t get. Should we just assume those clubs won’t take our offers and not bother?
We tried, up to now we’ve failed. But so have any other club who might be interested. The time has arrived for them to move, time is running out if the want to play, so these bids may well end up being successful.

It’s teally not rocket science.

Wilder has set the wage structure around the budget he has from the owners. He’s the manager, he lives and dies by his decisions. So no whining and bleating by some muppet with no idea what they are in about, and no experience of pro football and it’s complexities is going to make the slightest bit of difference.
Get over it for the love of all that is holy, of go and support a club that doesn’t mind flouncing he rules...like Derby..or maybe the pigs.
They don’t seem to care about wage structures and budgets after all!!
He's here again.

We've wasted 3 months of the transfer window trying to sign unattainable targets.

You need to spend to stand still in this division, if we don't we will go down sooner or later.

what's the wage structure, only go for players what aren't on more money than sharp

Yes, we don't want to upset all our players do we ?
I wonder how PSG got around the players revolt when they signed Neymar
I wonder how Barcelona get around it every week when paying Messi
I wonder how Real Madrid got through it every week whilst paying Ronaldo

Footballers want to see better players coming in on more money than them, it shows ambition, it makes them part of a better team, it makes them work harder to maintain their place in the team so that when their own contract negotiations come around they have more bargaining power because they've done well, either that or their recognised as being a good player and get a move elsewhere.

Only in a pathetic small time shop floor factory environment...….Oh, and at Sheffield United would this excuse be used as a problem

Agree, but when our 'Key' players are earning less than squad players at other clubs, you're kind of screwed.

I take your point on board, but I disagree with this point.

I haven't seen much squad harmony since we started falling down the division in January onwards. And we have WAG's tweeting that the manager should be picking their other halves etc.

The team spirit is a myth.

To be fair I'm quite pissed off that any of them are picking up any wages at the moment !

I could do what Leonard, Evans , lunstram and co have done in the past 2 games

So we should start doing things to make it even worse?

Why is it going to make things worse making a higher quality player our highest earner?
No ones suggesting we pay 40k like the pigs.

But these players can earn more as squad players than they can under our 'wage structure' so what's the point in chasing them?

We are screwed. We’re entirely dependent on Wilder over-achieving, season on season. I made this point last season when I kept posting the championship clubs losses and pointing out that our owners wouldn’t be willing to lose so much each year, that they can’t afford it. And that was before their falling out was confirmed and the legal action started.

We need it sorting out, with one person in overall control and a workable plan to take us forward, not two arseholes pulling in different directions. Ideally that one person won’t be either of them but I’ve no idea how this will pan out, my gut feeling is that one of them will hang around like Mike Ashley, constantly making the manager’s job ridiculously hard, when every supporter just wants them to fuck off.

In fact I can only see two scenarios;

1. Prince wins. Puts Van Winckel as DoF, fucks Wilder off and Van Winckel appoints a continental type manager meaning Van Winckel effectively runs the club but the manager takes the shit if it goes wrong.

2. KM wins, keeps Wilder, gets involved in some new funding deal that’s exactly like the one he’s just got out of and nowt changes, just like it hasn’t in all the time he’s been in charge.

You've just made that up haven't you? Ipswich have been 'stood still' in this division for a while now and their budget is apparently very low.

She didn't tweet that but you keep making stuff up if it makes you feel better

No, no I haven't.

Mick McCarthy is a very canny championship manager. Him and Warnock don't need money to keep things at the same level as they were before. They just need a few big ugly defenders, a midfield they can bypass and a striker who can put the ball in the onion bag.
But of course they play a certain 'brand' of football that we don't want to see.

Ipswich would have gone down ages ago if they didn't have McCarthy.

So it should be that you need a good manager in order to stand still in this division then?

You need a certain brand of football to stand still in this division if you have no money.

They're also built on solid defences.

You said you need money to stand still, I've given you an example of why you don't. Feel free to show me where that example is wrong

Are you thick or do you just pretend to be on this forum?

Show me the tweet where she said the manager should be picking her husband. You talk about people being thick whilst showing a distinct inability to read properly.

So the money doesn't matter then? You need to decide what it is you mean, your argument is all over the place.

It's rare for teams to stand still by just having a good manager.

How long do manager's stay in jobs these days?

If it's a good manager, he's likely to be snapped up by somebody else.

Ipswich found themselves in quite a rare situation with McCarthy.

If we're not willing to pay players what they're worth/earn at this level have we just decided to totally waste 3 months?

I thought that was obvious from the last line.
Yep, complete waste of time.
