Picking the same side that put in that abject display on Saturday, seems like vanity to me. I’ve thought for a while, Wilder seems reluctant to admit mistakes, and the more there are calls for changes (since last Christmas) the more he seems to entrench into his position and double down. I wonder if this is an ego thing? He brought these players in, often shouting about how good they are. Maybe he sees dropping too many of them as a poor reflection on him.

At this point, I don’t know if I’m more concerned about whether Wilder can see the awful performances but pride is getting in the way, or he doesn’t think the performances are bad.

Said ‘with a grip’ and from an ‘understated’ position of ‘calm’.

Didn’t applaud the away following tonight according to twitter.

Either he is so angry he couldn’t wait to get to the dressing room or he’s going to walk.

this is what the Oxford lads said and i must admit i'm pretty worried atm

You woz warned ;)

....nope, he gave them a chance to put it right.
They didn’t...expect changes Satdi...or not, depending on rumours.

I don’t really buy that to be honest. This combination didn’t work for a dozen games or more last year, and he’s had 6 months to realise, no Duffy, no creativity. Picking the same team is baffling if not ego.

No.... Wilder has more knowledge and experience of football management in his left toe than this entire message board membership put together.

It's not his ego to blame, it is the fact he's trying to put a team together to beat two teams who have recently been in the Prem and who have squads and budgets vastly superior to ours.

To do well, we need to be "on it" every single game. We haven't been any where near "on it" so far, and he's got to work his magic to get us back "on it".

Leave him to it and stop whinging and whining

I should say this is coming from someone with an ego that very often gets in the way and has a hard time admitting he’s wrong! No blame for a common human condition, but it does seem familiar to me!

Part of his job is to have us “on it”. We aren’t, and he will be rightly judged on his ability to get us back “on it”.

even Wilder can't replace Coutts with ten bob and a mars bar thrown in.. neither could Jesus come to think of it :D

Yeah he was stubborn with his selection AGAIN. The flat 3 in midfield doesn’t work. Egan has been horrendous in every single appearance he’s made for us up to now. He’s no better then Stearman. In fact he’s much worse. Shoot me down I don’t give a fuck that was pathetic on every level. JOC may aswell be sat on Brighton’s bench because he wasn’t here tonight. A serous shake up is needed. We’re going to struggle this season and that’s a fact

Has he done a post-match interview? I'd be interested in what he has to say.

I think he went with HIS best team last Saturday and had told them, right you put it right at Boro or else. I think he has given them a second chance - but they've fluffed it now. I fully expect Duffy, Sharp and Woodburn to start next game. If that happens then all credit to CW as he would seem to be doing right by his team.

We shall see but I was not there tonight and I will surmise the following game lines up as :

Hendo

Basham
Egan
JOC

Freeman
Stevens

Fleck
Woodburn
Duffy

Sharp
McGoldrick

That's unless we sign anyone before the game.

Still early days and plenty of time to sort it out.

Yes and he will get us back on it. Put the claws away and be careful what you wish for as well.

He can't use Coutts as a get out card. He knew he was out for a year or so and should have demanded the funds from the Brooks money (or maguire eta,) to replace him. That said I don't think for 1 minute that losing Coutts was the only problem. Our naive attack attack attack tactics got us of to a good start after a tough first few games but those same naive tactics got sussed by Christmas and I'm afraid so did CW. We talk about weather players can cut it at this level what about he manager and the owners, maybe not.

I think people need to be a little bit realistic. We're a squad of over achievers. Wilders hardly had the budget to bring in much better.

Folk want to be careful what they wish for. Are there any managers out there that could get this squad playing any better on that budget, because I don't think there are

With respect mate, I’m not whinging or whining. And he’s not trying to put a team together, that’s the issue. There are players that haven’t been ‘on it’ for 95% of games since last December and yet are continually picked, whilst others that are clearly improving the team, don’t get a sniff. Blind faith is just as destructive as having a ‘meltdown’. He’s not infallible, and just because he’s being rightly criticised doesn’t mean I want him sacked. He’s a big boy and well paid.

Not judging him at this point. He’s still got plenty of kudos for me and I hope he does sort it. He has made mistakes, let’s see if he recognises that and puts things right, I hope he does and think he will, but we’ll see.

I e posted elsewhere 24 points from 93, <26% win rate is not good enough. Keep that average and we will end the season with 35 points.

The definition of insanity is doing the same things wrong and expecting a different outcome

I think the budget thing is a slight misnomer but I take the point, Derby have bought well (and haven’t spent much beyond our capability) so have Brentford. Waghorn, was what? £200k last summer? Marriott, Mount etc these players aren’t pipe dream signings let’s be real here.

And I’m not wishing for anything. There is a space between hero worship and wanting him sacked. Justified criticism. He’s started the season badly, very badly. Can he turn it around? Of course, but the point of this thread is expressing my concerns that I don’t hear him admitting there’s a problem at his end.
