Why are some people getting on Clarke’s back after yesterday? Swansea left their wingers high up the pitch so that our wingbacks had less chance to attack. Couple this with the missing link between midfield and attack (Duffy) meant that both strikers were continually coming deep and feeding off scraps. We created nothing for either of the front two all day yet some want Leon hung drawn and quartered. Yes, the player who top scored in the championship last season not taking penalties into account. True, he was less threatening second half of the season but all strikers go through tough periods including Billy last year.
How many did he score? 15 was it with 7 in two games? That to me shows a lot of games where he didn’t score and you only get the same points for a one nil as a ten nil. For a long time he has been unproductive with regard to goals and yesterday he seemed out of sorts. I love him when he is on a run but we need consistent goal scoring not now and again. Neither Leon or Billy are doing this and I feel they need some competition. We have no teeth in front of goal.

Totally agree they need competition but my point was that neither striker (or Billy when he came on) had much to feed on yesterday mainly due to our lack of creativity yet some singled Leon out. I’ve a feeling even without another striker Wilder doesn’t know his best two yet

Time to scrap the back 3, it's costing us. Would also like Freeman back, he's a goal threat. So I would go
Henderson
Baldock Stearman Egan O Connell
Freeman Leonard Fleck Lafferty/Bryan
Duffy
Clarke
that would make us a lot more solid and give us the opportunity to get in behind them.

Boooo! Stripes on the back, that's so-ooooooooo 2016.

Boro likely to be without Gibson, quite possibly Traore and Waghorn too as well as Bamford.

Hope we don’t pander to them with a powder puff midfield three and actually go at them with one behind the front two. Like we used to, when we won a lot!

Personally, I think it might also have something to do with not making the correct runs for the ball to be played to. This, coupled with poor pass choices makes us pretty mundane and easy to read.

..........Helios ....Willywarmer.....Pribbipru

Panjandrum .........................................Brak

..............Meow...................Jargon

......................Cloud-Cuckoo

..........Eightfoot...............Swab

Subs: Nano; Pertex; Jobsworth, Giddy-Knickers; Conflict; Sharp

Good one, but I'd have Pissflaps in for Jargon, and drop Conflict from the bench to give Jizzlobber a run out in the second half.

I thought that on Saturday there was very few forward passes played hence the reason the strikers kept dropping deeper. As I said on a different thread, if we aren’t going to play with pace we need to play with tempo and for me we haven’t done that Saturday and increasingly less second half of last season

Yep, Traore gone. Phew.

Let's start with the bankers:

Clarke, Basham, Stevens, Lundstrum, Lafferty

Scares the crap out of me.

Can't see how one mediocre performance is going to change Wilders thinking. He's had 3 months to think about how he wants his team to play and he went with a flat midfield 3 at home. No way he goes with a more attacking team away at Boro.

Same XI probably. Unless Woodburn comes in for McGoldrick because of the short turnaround

Just because we think Saturday was worrying doesn't mean Wilder does

Bring Duffy back in for Lundstrum/Evans, they'll not play through midfield so I'm not sure we'll need 3 in there. Most other teams in the league I'd say drop Clarke but not this one. He'll be valuable defending set pieces if not much else. Poss play Bryan LWB for the same reason.

It will be the same formation, so the change I expect to see at the very least is some more creativity in midfield. Either Woodburn or Duffy in for one of Evans or Lundstram. That would improve things enormously.

Duffy or Woodburn in for Lundstram and Billy in for Leon Clarke and maybe Stearman in for Bash.
