Quick introduction for me: I used to read BU but posted on average once every blue moon. I like the layout of this forum more, it's similar to others I use so I will probably post more often here. I'm a S/T holder, recently married a Piggy S/T holder (don't hold it against me) and I love my football. I've been watching the Blades since the mid to late-eighties and the first game I remember was Brighton and Hove Albion at the Lane: it was definitely in the FA Cup and it was snowing so we had a white pitch/orange ball. May have been 0-0 draw, can't remember exactly.

Favourite game for importance/result etc was the Play Off Semin Final against Nottingham Forest although I loved the win over Arsenal in the PL a couple of years back too.

Favourite player is currently Ched Evans (so I can shout 'Chedwyn!' every time he gets it, no other reason!) and favourite of all time is probably Tony Agana with Jagielka and Brown getting honourable mentions.

So, thats me. Hello! :hello:

Hi, Wombwell blade.

There aren't many blades fans in barnsley at all. I'm from fairly near to you actually and it's all wednesday fans isnt it :)

Being married to a Wednesday season ticket holder, thats not good news!!!

My missus is a Wednesdayite but since meeting me she has been served with a marital length ban from entertaining any thoughts of attending that dump to spectate on football matches

He has got a name that rather rolls off the tongue :D

It's particularly pleasing to put a welsh accent on at the same time too!

Welcome to the forum, boyo!

Yeah, they're all over the place. It seems to me like Barnsley folk on the Rotherham/Sheffield side all supported Wednesday in the early nineties when they were doing well and then half of them switched to Barnsley in 1997 for some reason (!)

Am not a native but I can't think of another Blades sticker or shirt I've seen lately nearby - other than my Dad up the road!

Yeah, I am officially refusing to call him Ched, Evans or Cheesy as the bloke who sits behind me calls him (Ched > Cheddar > Cheesy, geddit? :o) and am going to shout CHEDWYN whenever he scores! And the Welsh accent if you can - my Welsh accent always sounds Indian!

To be fair, it did bring us together in the first place. In my first year at uni, the only conversations we had were re: United/Wednesday after we beat them 3-1 at the Lane with Brownie's goal and then they got relegated! A year later, we were together so I can put up with it.

It was nice for the first few years when we doubled them on the way to promotion and then were lauding it over them as a Premiership club. We got engaged the day before the Hillsborough win so our engagement party (that evening) was full of Blades from my family sloshing beer and singing 'Der der der der ... Akinbiyi!'

Moved in together at start of the 'Robson' debacle and I locked her out of the house after we lost at their place. This year I ws much more grown up: I let her in and ranted about (i) Mike Dean and Padd Kenny being prats and then (ii) Tudgay being a lucky bleeder and Blackwell needing sacking (changed my mind on that one since)

Now we're married, I'm sure the Blades won't let me down next month.

Another Barnsley Blade here and have been for 43 years. There's more of us than you think. Plenty in Hoyland as well.
