By no means ITK but they guy who told me about Brooks going said our budget was circa £6m. This is before Brooks money is taken into account. Naturally the full £12m wont be available, some will no doubt be offset on running costs, servicing annual debt, some will no doubt go back into the academy which helped develop him. Still leaves us a bit to play with - provided we don't get held to ransom (which we no doubt will).
Bloody will nah thas spilt dem beans, Rusty, lad :o

At that age and that price, this seems like a brilliant bit of business. He's potentially excellent and can play in a number of positions. The one worry would be that it's been suggested he didn't sign for Rangers because of a medical issue.

I remember saying something like that myself when we signed Martyn Woolford and Brighton were interested in Murphy.

But you’re right, having Lafferty as main cover for Jack isn’t good. Nowt to worry about here...is there?

Aye and that worked out well for Brighton and Murphy didn't it? They massively underused him then binned him off to the SPL, whilst we were left short.

Wots a buy back clause?
First dibs if he is put on the market or can they do it whenever the fancy takes them?

I’m assuming that with two options in the centre, and now a proper back-up to JOC, this spells the end of Jake Wright’s time on the squad, though his injury may mean it’ll be a departure in the next window.

do you think Stearman will start the season in the team on merit?

UTB

No idea. (Would Sharp and Clarke be in on merit from the second half of last season?) but playing three at the back and leaving Basham out wouldn't make sense because of what we'd lose going forward. Down to Wilder and what he's seen of him in preseason though. Some wrote him off when he joined without even seeing him and I called him that at the time.

Odd though that robbiez666 thought Stearman was a success only a matter of days ago.

Amazing free transfer! Sell-on is probably pretty high since Rangers had to pay 2,5 million for this kid. But I like it!
How many times does this have to be saId?

Rangers were NOT paying £2.5m "for this kid"

They tried to big it up, no doubt to please their fans, by saying the package was £2,5m including signing on fees and wages.

No mention of transfer fees anywhere.

If we are paying him £10k a week over 3 years that's going to be the best part of £2m with employers National Insurance.

On top of that he will get a decent signing on fee, his agent will want a fee and there are other related costs such as his health insurance etc,

The total of all these would add up to a PACKAGE of around £2.5m

Rangers were NEVER PAYING A £2,5m fee for him.

As some may say, "it boils my piss" when people comment on articles/posts that they haven't bothered to read properly.

I think it's more likely that he didn't sign for Rangers because his girlfriend lives in/around Manchester.

He lives in/around Manchester, and Sheffield is a whole lot closer to Manchester than Glasgow is.

I think Wilder has played a blinder here, even if we do end up selling him back to City

Like most others I know nothing about him, I really hope he is being brought in as a wing back if so the squad is looking a lot stronger, lets hope we get some more positive news about a striker in the next couple of days, could be an exciting season.

Great news. With this being a free it means all the proceeds from the JOC sale can be re invested..........................

Sorry that's just a joke, before I get slated.

Certainly a good signing, brings youth and competition to the squad. All hail Mr Wilder.
