If Southampton are really wanting a sale from Gallagher and the price was right, they'd have sold him, simples.

However, they're probably extremely unrealistic in their pricing for someone that is 'potential' only and hasn't exactly been prolific in his last couple of years.

I was talking with a local football manager a couple of months ago (won't see which one but wasn't CW) and he was telling us about how he signs players. He said he always meets them in a Costa and buys them a coffee. If they order a "normal" coffee they stand a chance, if they order "a fancy Latte with sprinkles and sparkles on top" then they are not for him and the conversation ends no matter how good a player he thinks he is!
