Gone Elsewhere Martin Waghorn

In the merry-go-round of Championship transfers, it wouldn’t surprise me if Leeds sign Bamford and Middlesbrough use the funds to replace him with Waghorn (their interest has been strongly rumoured to be rumbling in the background).

Waghorn’s from the North East and the salary package on offer would probably be superior to ours.

Don't know about you chaps...but I've gone from not being too bothered about us signing Waghorn, to actually feeling desperate for us to sign him. :(

The reason why? Well, it's looking like we're not going to sign anyone better doesn't it? I mean, the likes of Gallagher, who I was mildly excited about us signing, doesn't seem like it's going to happen. He would have been my first choice of all the strikers that we've been rumoured to be interested in, because I think he's got youth and height in his favour. Maybe that one is still a possibility, but I really don't know? All I know is, despite everything, it seems like the Waghorn deal is not dead yet - and he would give us another, good, natural goalscorer - which is handy!

I posted separately about the need for more creativity and pace in midfield. I think that's going to be critical tbh this coming season. I don't think the midfield is good enough - I'm sorry. I know that will be controversial to some. I like Fleck, I think he's excellent. I like Coutts too - but I'm not confident he's going to get fit and make the kind of contribution we know he can make - for a few months yet. I think Duffy is really good on the ball, but he's so hit and miss, even within the same game. And Evans...technically very good, but negative at times. Then you've got the young lad Lunny, who tbf to him, I think, he's come along leaps and bounds since he got here - but pitching him up against some of the midfield players we're facing at this level...it's men v boys. I think the lad has got it in him to be a very good player don't get me wrong - but he's not ready to "run the show" in midfield yet. And that's what we need. A player who can lift the whole team from midfield and make them tick like a Swiss watch.

So, I'm praying for Waghorn. Because I know he'll stick chances away if we create them. And I think we'll create them - I just think, with the midfield as it stands, we'll create less than most of the other teams we are playing.

Your first line sums it up for me CB

I don't think he's worth the fee

Wasn't too bothered when we reportedly made a bid, particularly at that price. However, since this debacle began I've changed my view. Limited targets. Others in for him. Prices are ridiculously high

Gerrim signed now is my opinion

How do you think our midfield will play against this lot.

Think they will struggle Against 8 players

Waghorn is on bench for Ipswich today, there fans reckon he's definitely off because he needs games and there against West Ham so he would have been expected to start in there strongest side. Because he's not, there suggesting there manager is giving there other forwards more game time in the events of him going. Hopefully to us.

Only way we have a chance of landing him is if Boro aren't going for him

If they do, we're history imo

I've wanted him even before it was reported we were after him .

I think he would be a perfect fit for us and strongly fancy us for the top six if we manage to get him .

If Leeds have pulled the plug on Vydra and gone for Bamford they've absolutely made the right decision.

They can't let this to drag on any longer with Vydra's agent taking the piss. Fuck that.

Bamford will score at least as many as Vydra next season anyway.

Bamford Leeds bound from Boro. Does thst mean Vydra deal off and does that mean Derby can't sign Waghorn because of FFP?

Bamford obviously not big and beefy enough for dinosaur Pulis.

£6.4 million for Bamford is madness.

There's speculation that they want Bamford and Vydra.

If Bamford's only costing £6.4m then there's every chance they'll continue pursuing Vydra.

Sorry to do this...

Vydra at the Leeds game today. Looks like they will be getting both.

Where have you seen this? He was in Leeds yesterday but not seen anything about him being there today. Reports from Leeds journos suggest they have ended their interest in him.

The worry now could be more Boro than Derby

Sorry seemed to have got that wrong by looks of it.
