really should have kept him!
See no reason why he was moved on and should have been retained on minimal wages to be loaned out this season to see how he developed.
Another m o m performance for York

was outstanding at league one level
cult hero

not cutting it in training at this level, they monitor everything and he was not getting up there

its a tough business

banging them in at Conference North level is he?

Moved on because he wasn't good enough, hence he is playing at york

Pinchy, have you ever seen the guy play?
It’s an opinion that he had the raw ingredients to make a good player, polish him up and I think he could make it.
Time will tell.

Problem is, he's had the raw ingredients for a number of years... How long did we give him to force his way in and how long does he give us before moving on?

He'll be 22 in a few weeks and never played a league game.
Keeping him could prevent someone else developing. His place in the U23s last game was taken by a kid from the Czech U20 team.

Appreciate his age etc. But I did clarify my opinion by suggesting that we retain his registration and loan him out.
Agree that keeping him at BDTBL could restrict opportunities for younger players but Still confident that he will make a good player

I appreciate the staff who see him on a daily basis and scouts that will have no doubt watched him, at some point no doubt a scout from every club has seen him play, he was released by us and not one snapped him up, says it all really, but good luck to him and I hope he proves me wrong

Precisely. The Bladey Boybanders really struggle with that concept.
I am the leading light, biggest Blade, ever present, front & centre Academy Watcher.
No one I know who is part of the Academy watching group struggle with that concept.
You, Pinchy and the rest of the living on someone else's past glories Bladey Tribute Act need to get some new material....

You are not a Bladey Boybander, Phil.

The Bladey Boybanders don’t necessarily watch the Academy on a regular basis, or at all. They look out for results, hear names who are scoring goals or otherwise impressing and make what history proves to be hopelessly optimistic and erroneous assumptions. They are utterly beguiled when one of those players is selected for England Infants. Their limited intellect assumes that such players are on a Rubber Dinghy Rapids express pass to intergalactic stardom. Little Louis and Ben Mustavimback are but two recent examples of such distorted thinking. Now we move on to Jake Wright. Jake fucking Wright.

Those that do watch the lads play, not least yourself and another sensible bloke whose name I forget, tend to take a more rounded, realistic view. As you have made clear, you don’t spend every matchday wishing on a star that the youngsters will be in the first team next week, next year, or at all.

The fact is you can’t wish players better than they are, as I tried in vain to persuade the well-meaning but utterly deluded and now departed Woodward Fan for many years.

Pretty good beer reviews as well!

Pinchy, everyone is entitled to an opinion, how that opinion is formed is irrelevant.
You may be a decent bloke, but to me you come across as an arrogant egotist

Bertie, it really is tongue in cheek.
People choose not to recognise this for whatever reason

Of course they are, but opinions are not all of equal value. Some are so close to unassailable as to be coterminous with established fact; others are ludicrous. How the opinion is formed is bound to be relevant. Some are founded on intensive study, others on a whim and every degree in between.

Tongue-in-cheek is meant to amuse. Some people are better than others at being amusing, some people are better than others at seeing a joke. In written form, it is more difficult, because you haven't got tone of voice or facial expression or gestures to go on. Edgy humour is great, but if a joke is constantly causing offence, then it is time to have a re-think. An apology and explanation is usually enough to clear the air, and it doesn't mean you have to accept the other person's opinion. As we are all Blades, we shouldn't need a United Nations Peace-keeping Force to sort us out.

It's quite easy. Just accept Pinchy is right even when he's wrong. No amount of pointing out the bleeding obvious will change him. Took me about 18 months not to bother about it. Once he's got on his high horse and charged at those straw men, turn off for an hour or so and then pop back and view the carnage. :D

So let me just check my understanding...

Lad can't get a game, so leaves and drops down a few levels to get a game.

Starts playing well at that level. Bring him back, shouldn't have ever left!

Makes sense.

I should probably do the same, but I can't resist from time to time trying to nudge people gently towards bearing in mind that people have feelings. I enjoy most of the posts of most of the combative posters on here, and wouldn't want to reduce the spontaneity. But an occasional recognition of fallibility works wonders.
