Have i read this wrong from the Stars report on last night's match?

One player who did excel, much to Wilder's obvious annoyance, was Simon Moore. Twenty-four hours after committing his future to the visitors, he produced a series of excellent saves to deny Mallik Wilks during a

I think it’s a typo and should be the name of the Donny manager (whoever that is )

I had the same thought but just badly written I think.

Wonder how Swansea's manager is feeling today.

They have only won one of there five pre season games, that being the first game at Yeovil.

The other four games all played in Europe (tuff on paper) two draws and two losses, worst defeat last nite at FC Magdeburg 3-0

Means nowt tho pre season, you are just getting players fit and trying things out.

Just looked at Swansea's squad and it is still a Premiership squad, even McBurnie (who scored for Barnsley against us) has signed a new deal.

There is talk of one or two of there leading lights being snapped up,but i bet i does not happen until after the 4th Aug but before 9th Aug.

I would take a draw now against them Jacks.

The Star writing something badly? Well I’d never.....:eek::rolleyes::)

In all fairness, the writing is vastly superior to the formatting. It's hilarious that they pretend to be have anything to do with journalism.

I think they may struggle initially. Mawson's not fit anyway, but off. As is Ayew and possibly Fernandez. I doubt they will all be there come Saturday. They have a lot of injuries and are struggling badly at the moment. They need to sell before bringing players in.

They will end up around the play-offs, but at the moment they're in disarray. Player playing out of position. Throwing kids in.

If we play ok, we should beat them. If we play well, we should win comfortably.

It's evidently not a Premier League squad.

P.S. The top level of football in England ceased being called the Premiership in 2007.

I see them more likely doing a Sunderland. They're just one of a long list of no-mark clubs who've had their day in the sun (e.g. Bradford, Barnsley, Swindon, Carlisle, Oldham etc) who are about to disappear back into the obscurity whence they came. FFS lets not start getting a repeat of the bout of Brentforditis we were all overcome with before the start of last season's opener.

Swansea will probably play the following XI against us:

Nordfeldt (Swedish International)
Amat (Spanish u21 capped)
van der hoorn (Dutch u21 capped)
Naughton (England u21 capped)
Merlin (Wizard)
Carroll (England u21 capped)
Grimes (England u21 & u23 capped)
Dyer
Asoro (Swedish u21)
McBurnie (Scotland Full Capped)
Narsingh (Dutch Full Capped)

More than enough quality to cause us problems all over the pitch. :)

So what.

George Long (England U20 capped)
Jordan Slew (England U19 capped)
Diego de Juve (Italy U20 capped)

Means fuck all. Looks like the Brentforditis I mentioned in the post above yours has already begun!

Swansea have some good footballers, no two ways about it, it will be a great test for us and probably the best time to play them.

Healthy respect, not fear. I'd happily have at least half that XI in our squad. :)

They've been playing Grimes at left back as they only have Olson and he's injured. Their midfield of Carroll (their fans hate him), Asoro and Fulton in pre-season has apparently been a mess. They've got loads of talented players but seem to be a hodge-podge of players as opposed to a team. Also seem pretty weak and lightweight.

As I said, I think they'll do well eventually but the first few games will probably see them at the bottom of the league.

You have to respect every team at this level though. They'll not be pushovers but we've got one of the easier opening fixtures. Put it this way, if we don't win, I'd be concerned.

Absolutely. The doffers and tuggers will be out in force over the next week or so. Barely a team in the league will go untugged.

Other teams - they’re fantastic.

Merlin is the young left back they've brought in from Real Madrid over the summer, if they're playing grimes there, he might have been bought for the u23's then. Asoro is meant to be talented but raw.

I could write you an astonishingly long list of wank players who were capped at youth level.

Means absolutely nothing.

It’s called respect for the opposition, that’s not to say we can’t beat them because I think we will and I hope we kick ten bells of shit out of them aswell.

Other than at some point in their careers someone deemed them good enough to be selected for their country at their age group and better than their peers?

My post was in answer to the comment that they'd be fielding a weakened/scratch side and if we play okay we should beat them, and if we played well we should beat them comfortably. I was just pointing out that the team that might be facing us on Saturday wasn't that bad a side, and had sufficient quality (in theory) to trouble us. I wasn't inferring that the fact they'd been capped meant they were world beaters and that Swansea were set to dry bum us all over the aprk. As far as I recall, other than Sunderland & Hull we didn't beat anybody comfortably at home last season, and I wouldn't currently put Swansea in that bracket. :)

Swansea won't know what to expect. Better calibre of players or not, it takes an awful lot psychologically to turn a squad used to losing most weeks to unite, lift their spirits and get used to being a winning team. Preseason may have done them good, but it'll take a lot to generate squad harmony - and they'll be up a close-knit group with a great squad harmony, an exciting style of football, all on the same wavelength and with a year under their belt at this level.

They'll be nervous.

No shit sherlock, where were they playing for the last few years.

Thanks for the history lesson, but i will call it what ever i want to.

Spoke to a Swansea fan today and his words were 'I'm worried we are going to do a Sunderland...According to him they are a squad lacking in confidence' likely to lose more of their better players and without a 'Welsh connection'. He thinks we will do them comfortably at the Lane...Let's hope he's right !

Looks like some other fans are cap-doffers, wouldn't you agree, Pinchy ?
